Today, when I attached the name/date label to my first watercolor quilt (actually a 36"x36" wallhanging), I was really excited. Picture now on:

That is so beautiful! Congratulations.

Wow, that's gorgeous!
Have you got a next project planned?
Did you see that one in Columbus that was a landscape made out of simple large diamonds, but the fabric choice and the quilting made a great picture?

Awwwww, Jerry, how beautiful. We are so proud of you. Polly
wow, that is great! I love the "picture" and the way that the fabrics match not only with colour, but with subject as well.

That is just beautiful Jerry! Very well done!
Jerry that is gorgeous - I really love it. The way the light focuses and then the whole thing fades to dark at the lower edges is wonderful. And I do like the pink and yellow in the sky. It is just what I think of when I think 'watercolour' quilt. I'm so glad you did it and it worked out so beautifully. . In message , MaleQuilter writes
Louise, I did see the one in Columbus and I took several pictures. I was really surprised that those large diamonds could result in such a nice landscape. I'm sure that the fabric selections had to be done very carefully (both color and value).

This is amazing. how did you think through about choice and placement of fabrics. I think I would be overwhelmed by just the number of choices . and then the placement. Were you following a pattern or was this your own design? ceegee in Boca
ceegee, thank you. I think that I had the problem of "thinking" too much about choice and placement of fabrics. I really had a problem making up my mind whether my watercolor was impressionistic or realistic. Being a manual reader, I bought five different watercolor quilt project books but the variety of techniques just added to the dilemma. I did not want to use an existing pattern or design and I wanted something along the lines of a Monet landscape.
I really enjoyed the project. I learned a lot. I will probably do another watercolor soon. I want to do a paper pieced project next. My experienced quilter wife says that I am choosing difficult projects to learn about quilting, but I am having fun.
