I have a good local quilt shop that has a lot of ancillary stuff that relates to quilting and I will swing by there also. Thanks for reminding me.

You could make a small quilt that folds in half like a card (using some of the inherited fabrics) and write the proper sentiments inside. I do that quite oftem for very special people.

Make a fabric postcard for her. Easy to do, just a very small quilt, on heavy interfacing/very light batting. Quilt, put a back on (Can be card or muslin) Do a double "satin" stitch around the edges. (First go 'round, a little narrower and not quite as close together, then again, just a bit closer together and one "notch" wider.) Finishes just fine. If using muslin, use a Pigma pen or JellyRoll pen, write message, etc. Can be mailed as a postcard (has to have space for address, say "Postcard" somewhere on it.....) or put into an envelope and mail. Pay a bit extra for hand cancellation, the machines don't like the extra thickness, especially if you embellish with beads/wires/thick trapunto or such. That way you are not only sending a Thank You, but a keepsake. (And the postcard, or card size in general is a really fun way to try out wild experimentation and new techniques. You can even just use the raw edges and zigzag the design to the filler, or a background and the filler. Which "quilts" it as you construct it. Have fun,
