need opinions, not flattery

Okay, after reading some of the messages here and really looking at your drawing.... Here are some things that come to mind.

Red to me is more sunset than moon time. Might be easier to do too, especially if you are going to paint the sky.... don't even have to have the sun showing, it could be behind the buildings, just the yellow/gold/orange glow bleeding into a sunset red sky. The clouds can also have some of the orangy/pinkish glow on them to delineate them.

Love the figure you have of Red, but it is more "wind swept moor" than "big city". I like the idea of a more "hip" RRH, and using unusual (for quilting) fabrics to make her "hood" a little 3-D would be awesome. I also think that any accent colors should pick up that blue/turquoise in the prints. The cool will contrast great with the warm tones of the reds of the rest of the piece. I always think of anime as having people who are much more 'angular' than the Red you picture. (BTW, have I mentioned that I love your Red? would love to see you do something else with that.......) How about putting her in a short skirt, boots, and use a red lace as a "hoodie" jacket?

I would bring the "city" more around, and closer to Red. Not as much "open space" between her and the buildings. If you made the windows on Grandma's house a bit larger it would be easier to see a wolf inside, even if not a whole one. (There are some wonderful wolf prints around, not sure if I could find one around here at once or not.. let me know if you need some help there, I might be able to sent you a piece to cut a wolf from. )

Who ever suggested using fusible, I agree. And simplify your shapes, then add detail with stitching. Much easier to make small lines and such with the machine than with fabric. For a small piece, larger simpler shapes will convey more, and also emphasize the inherent "smallness" of Red herself. So have some of those buildings even go up to the edge of the quilt. Put Red right into them, and use some perspective to have G'ma's house seem far away, I like the winding road, start it wide at Red, and "behind" her, then narrow it down to the house and beyond.

You are attempting something wonderful and I wish you every luck with it. It should be amazing what ever you end up with.

Just throwing in my 2 cents. How about the wolf's face on a computer screen under a dating service banner as if RR is looking for a love match. I'd use a slimy looking leacherous wolf.
