New Janome 11000 query

I know I am really forgetful, however, I really thought someone on this list ordered one of the new Janomes. I have a friend who is seriously considering ordering one, but wants to know a price range to expect. I have searched online and found $5800. $7500 and $9000. Anyone know for sure??

Thanks, Paulette in WV

Writing a check for $ 9,000 for a SM would give me such a case of lockjaw! Someone would have to get a clawhammer just to get my gritted teeth open again - or feed me with a tube up the nose. Tell me you're kidding. You are kidding aren't you? Polly

My Bernina Artista 200 was about $7000. Of course I didn't write the check for it all at one time--Bernina had a special no interest-no finance charge for 15 months. Paid it off a couple of months ago!! Yippee!!

Here's my best guess based on the Janome embroidery machine my mom bought a few years back.

The lower price you are seeing is likely for just the machine A higher price is for the machine with the digitizing software as well. The highest price is for the machine with the digitizing software and the Janome CD ROM drive.

I hear you can use any CD ROM drive and not just the Janome one, so I would suggest your friend consider pricing drives and see what is the better deal.

Also, there are optional free arm and macro hoops. Some dealers might be bundling these and add that cost to the price.

She might want to go to

and download the brochure. That way she can understand what is normally bundled with the machine and be able to better compare prices so make sure she is getting all the pieces and parts she wants.

I saw the demo on the site on Saturday which was their big news item. My Janome dealer told me that he would sell it to his customers for $5200 fully loaded - which is how they come. He said he knows other dealers are getting at least $5800 for it. This is in Texas so I don't know how it is in other parts of the country. I also received a big brochure in the mail on Monday about it. It is a nice machine, but I am not very interested in all the embroidery stuff. Some of the girls in my guild saw it, and they were very impressed. They all have expensive embroidery/sewing machines. They liked this better than the ones they have paid $7000-$8000 for. The lighting looks to be fantastic, and the screen is adjustable to different heights. It also doesn't have to have the big embroidery hoop to get the job done.

I bought my Bernina 200E brand-new on E-bay for $4500. I came with all the goodies too. The machine had only 2 hours on it. Before I bid, I spoke to her on the phone and called the dealer where she bought it, just to make sure it was legit. My dealer wouldn't honor the warranty because I didn't buy it from her. Never mind that I had bought a Deco 650, 155QE and a serger from her. I took my business to a dealer in a near by town. She adopted my 200E and now gets all my business. Everytime I go to the local store I make sure I say "Hi" to the owner. She always asks where I've been. :-) Linda

I called one of the shops out here where I live, Utah, and they told me it was going to retail for $8000. Hestia in Utah
