New QI

Congrats on your new QI. He sounds a little bit like the newest member of our family (a 3-1/2 month old border collie named Maggie) - she also sleeps upside down. She'll lay on her back on the love seat with her head hanging off the cushion and then expect a belly rub! We're still working on the housebreaking bit - she's been with us for about 10 days after being in an outdoor dog run all her short life. She's doing pretty good, but we still have an occasional accident.

I swore we wouldn't get another dog after we lost our last one, but sometimes they just find their way into your heart and home, don't they?

Congratulations on your newest family member! Goofy sounds wonderful! I have always found that no matter what my intentions might be about whether to get an animal, what kind, what age, etc., the best ones always seem to just "happen along", and I have never regretted letting my heart take over.

Wonderful news, Jill. I knew it wouldn't be long! Goofy sounds delightful! I have been struggling with the decision to get another dog since my beloved Crikit passed over a year ago. I have been told by my neighbors that I really need another one. I keep hoping my house will sell so i can get settled somewhere else and then go to the pound and pick one out.

How wonderful for you, your family and Goofy! He sounds delightful! My Hoover and Simon watch television and they bark at the dogs. It's annoying- they can spot a dog even if it just flashes across the screen for a second and doesn't bark. They don't mind cats or monkeys or squawking parrots but no dogs are allowed in our television!

Goofy sounds adorable! I had a black lab retriever mix many years back and he was the bestest dog (and I'm generally a cat person).

Can't go wrong wioth a labbie. We once had a dream wish to have three labs - one of each color - together at the same time. The plan was to name them Doofus, Goofus, and Roofus. Goofy is close enough! :-) Sleeping upside down and watching TV are excellent indicators. Sleeping upside down usually means he's confident and comfortable enough in his surroundings to leave himself in that vulnerable position. Watching television usually means you've potentially got a doggie genius there.

Fudgey is just over 4 months, is learning lots of cool stuff, and just perked up his ears when I started reading this thread. Dogs are SO WEIRD!
