Well, one reason was that it was awkward. The quilted gusset and quilted outer layer made the intersections very thick. Additionally, the instructions were, well, they could have been better. I will admit that the design of the bag made it difficult to describe in words what needed to be done. I would not recommend this for a first time bag maker. The lining is attached at the gusset, but free in the body of the bag and all of the seams are inside. Great concept and super good way to install a zipper without tears. Cussing, maybe; tears, no. joan :>

Thanks for the clarification, Joan. I hate it when instructions are less than clear -- which is why I *LOVED* our Pat on the Hill's book with its crystal-clear instructions.
