On and off topic -- update on me and life

Hi Folks,

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. I'm going to be pretty sparse around here after this week until about the 7th or 8th of the new year.

My grandfather is in the hospital (again!) -- this time it seems rather "minor" considering it isn't thought to be pneumonia or similar -- "simply" dehydration and a need for more blood. (g'pa has lung cancer and is currently -- I believe still -- in remission from lukemia. Surgery is not an option due to his heart troubles so we are "monitoring" the lung cancer at the moment after two rounds of treatment) He's in the hospital downstate which is one of the biggest drawbacks to my move north -- I can't just up and go down and see him and be a support to my grandmother. It was a little drive when I lived in the Ann Arbor area but 30-45 minutes is nothing compared to the hours it would be now and that's just one way.

Hubby and I are at least already scheduled to spend Xmas Eve and possibly Xmas night at my grandparents so that visit will be soon. Then we leave for Dallas. I don't worry much about you all staging a stash raid -- I figure the weather will bar many of you from it, but for those who brave the snow and ice -- please at least organize and put back that which you do not take with you -- leave the room nicer than you first find it please ;) I have no QIs to guard the stash in the house, but we do have certain members of the wildlife community here that seem to think our front and back yards are their personal restaurants and quickie motels so come near at your own risk. =) Oh, and *cut* from the batiks, don't be greedy and take them all. *smirk*

So, other than my volunteer time at the library (I have to make it up because I got a migraine at lunch this week before I could make it there and so can't take this week off), I shall be spending the bulk of this week cleaning house, packing for the two trips, making the one Xmas gift left (an educational game for my cousin's young'un), searching for old EOBs to prove I met my deductible for reimbursement via hubby's job, trying to get in at least one more workout, and feeding my husband (so as to eliminate the extra cost of eating out), and tryign to make sure I get all my bills scheduled in the mail so nothing falls behind while we are gone.

My mailperson is probably relieved that the package deliveries appear to have stopped -- I even got my NoSew already (thanks again Christina)

-- there was one week there were it seemed like a delivery of some sort was happening about every other day or so.

Best Holiday wishes to you all =) If not before, talk to yous next year!
