on the subject of batting...

how does one preshrink a Hobbs 80/20 batting if one doesn't own a bath?

Soak it, spin it, dry it. Gen

Sparky has a post just ahead of yours on preparing batting. I don't have much to add except: sometimes a batt will have a strange bulge or wringy wonkle to it. Hover over it with your steam iron. If that doesn't whip it into shape, you can use a press cloth and smash the rascal. I highly recommend the press cloth. Don't ask. Polly

I noticed but she is asking about pressing it *not* preshrinking it so a totally different approach and a different question hence mine ;-)

Doesn't yours have a pause button? Or you could just let it fill up and turn it off. Wait a while, turn it back on, and run it through the pump cycle. Roberta in D

You are right, Jessamy. I didn't notice that the questions were quite different. Pre-shrinking and pressing are sometimes but not always the same. Polly
