Hi all I'm sitting here scared stiff for the health of my 9 year old granddaughter and hoping some of you could send prayers for her. I'm afraid that she needs all the help she can get. She hasn't been feeling well for a few days. Yesterday her mom took her to emergency at the hospital in the city that they are closest too. The doctor their said best guess was scarlet fever, but they just didn't know so transferred her to the next largest city 3 hours away. They also said that they just don't know, didn't think scarlett fever was quite right so would do some testing. So far test results have shown strep bacteria in her blood, they have done bone scans but our daughter has not heard any results from that yet. Meanwhile DGD is getting worse. They have her on morphine tonight as well as intravenious antibiotics. This may be a case of knowing a little being worse than knowing nothing, but we do know that strep, which is often a fairly routine minor infection, can cause a multitude of horrendous problems for the rest of your life, and can lead to death. It is associated with flesh eating disease, and from looking up sites on the internet, that is what her symptoms are suggesting to us (grampa & I). The hospital they are at is 6 hours away from us, and we are preparing to head out at any time. DD is saying there is nothing we can do yet, wait till they have more information. She is 6 1/2 months pregnant with baby #3. They have a 3 1/2 year old at home. Dad needs to go back to work, so child care is going to be a problem. DD does not know how worried we are. We do not know if the doctors there have told her what the worst case scenarios are. It does not sound like it. Her worst worry is that they have told her it will likely be 2 weeks before her daughter would be able to go home. All prayers, good thoughts, good vibes, any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
