OT - Back from vacation (as you may have guessed)

Well! Let me just say that whomever said cruising was a relaxing vacation, well they downright LIED!

For two whole weeks I was not so much as relaxed for even a minute! Well, maybe a minute. If'n we were in port then we were up at 7.30am and off the boat soon after not returning until about an hour before we needed to. Then followed the regulation showers, changing, feeding kids and getting them to kids club and then dinner for adults. The kids clubs finished at about 10.00pm (although there were late sittings until 1.00am - which we used a couple times) and the kids partied up as hard as we did - they loved going to the theme nights and dancing up a storm with the Cruise Director' staff, whom we became really good friends with. Bed however, was never before 12.30 or 1am. Days at sea were not much more quiet either as there was always "something" happening that we had to go do (VBG).

By the time we staggered off at Los Angeles two weeks later, we had plenty of email addresses, and the promises from a few staffers that they would be visitin us at the end of the year when contracts were up!!! Guess we convinced 'em just how good Oz is.

The week in LA was great too, non stop go-go-go. I swear Wayne's parents had more stamina than I did.

But now, with aching feet (I woud hate to say just how much walking we did) and a bit of a cold/flu from the changes in weather, I have gone back to work to relax......

Oh and I managed to find Undercover Quilts in Seattle....or was it San Francisco? Some gorgeous fabrics and some very amazing quilts hanging up. Staff were nice - and they have an eBay shop too!!

Next year's holiday is much more sedate - a week and a half in Tasmania in late March for the Go-Kart nationals, and then 2 weeks in Queensland in the September school holidays.

Onwards and Upwards I always say!

Welcome back, Sharon! And it does sound as though you had a fantastic time, even if you're completely tuckered out. Now you'll need a vacation to recuperate from your vacation! LOL!

Tagging on here.... Glad the holiday was fantastic Sharon! Sounded exhausting but fun. Super to know the girls had such a good time as the 'oldies' .

Aaaahhhh, it was amazing, just amazing. So good. I'm home all day today with a "sickie". Young Mikayla (DD2) has been coughing and snorting a treat since we got home (all the changes in weather I think) and today sounds like a hyperactive St Bernard so I'm keeping her rugged up and headed to the quack at lunchtime.

I've seen those little pitchers for nasal lavage at Walgreens. I know people swear the treatment works wonders....but how do you do it the very first time? EEEWWWW.

I'ze ben tellin ya and tellin ya ta do this....but do you lissen? No..but when a TV personality sez........and mine ya don't gotta use a pitcher..you'ze buy a lil bottle with a larger hole and keep your head normal but leaning over the sink and squeeze the bottle---water goes up one side and down the other.so much easier on the neck......and faster and not all over the face etc. Or ya could even use an 'ear cleaning syringe' and spray up one side at a time. I use plain water as salt water stings so badly it ain't worth it---and plain water (bottled distilled water to be exact) doesn't.

but remember how much it hurt to get swimming pool water up your nose? Or spew milk out when laughing in the lunchroom? Ouch!

Gives me goose bumps to think about.

But it works. Haven't had another sinus infection since I started doing it as the first sign of 'getting a cold'.

I use this, and it's so much easier and less messy.

And, the 'Breath Right' powder is much nicer on the nose than salt water.

The trick is to make sure your tongue is blocking the back of your throat; nothing can go down this way. And you really can't breathe through your nose while you're doing it, since one nostril has water/salt going in and the other has it coming out. LOL! If you breathe through your mouth, everything is fine. I do this with salt water (easy and cheap), and it really does help.

It's wonderful! I use the nasal rinse kit by NeilMed.

It has premeasured salt packets to make the saline solution with distilled water. It's isotonic so it doesn't sting at all.
