Back from vacation

Gosh, I missed a lot while I was gone, it seems! Happy dances and prayers to all who need/want them.

Having done a fair bit of hiking around Tucson the past six months, I thought I was prepared for my hiking vacation. Wrong! First of all, I came down with bronchitis a week before I left. Then, there was an altitude thing that kicked in. Apparently hiking is different at 2000 feet than it is at 8000 or 7000 feet.. But we still got to enjoy the Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce Canyon. I hope all of you who haven't seen them get a chance. Zion is particularly accessible, and the shuttle system guarantees that you can see all the sights in the lower canyon without driving your own car. The rim, of course, is a whole different boogie.

It was hard saying goodbye to my son yesterday, knowing that I won't see him in person again for a year or two. Thank God for email and the telephone!!!

Now I have a hard week's quilting ahead of me to get that commissioned quilt done in time. Wish me luck!

Welcome back, Carolyn! I'm glad you had a good time on the hiking vacation. :) Best of luck with the quilt! :) It's hard when the kids leave, isn't it? But you're right -- email and the phone are wonderful.

I lived at the Grand Canyon for a few years in the early 60s- never hiked the whole way, but am familiar with the Bright Angel Trail for a couple of miles. Can't remember the other trail's name, but I can give you a big ATTA GIRL for doing it. Good on you! Glad you had a good time and spent time with your son.
