Have a good trip Barry. My wife and I head for London, England on tueday with our daughter. She flies on to Kenya and Saturday while we stay in England until Canadian Thanksgiving. My daughter will be in Kenya for 5 months.

Hmmmm The way the 'madman and his cronies have managed to get away with promising 'No rise in tax' (but we will invent 69 or so new ways of taxing you) Don't worry we will protect the UK's Independence (while handing the keys to the country to a bunch or eurowimps and franco/german toadys) Downsizing our armed forces so much that we now have more people in Kwangos,committies and discussion groups than we have soldiers

IMHO we have the best trained and motivated service men and women in the world bar none!!! Please note I did not mention equipment. The new radio kit being issued (BOWMAN) was due in service around 1980 something. It is rumored to give radiation burns to those who carry it and the system has gained a new nickname Better Off With Map And Nokia. A few hundred years ago a 'Terrorist' (Religious Fanatic) failed to take out Parliment, getting caught just before he could light the touchpaper on the biggest firework that London would have ever seen if it had gone off. A good few years later another Fanatic, with religious leanings, almost turned this green and pleasant land into a Dictatorship but his mates saw the light and managed to tone things down a bit til the next King got his act together.

Since then we have managed to build (and destroy) the biggest empire the world has ever seen, upset almost every country on earth by either being friends with or enemies of every country on earth. Train the armed forces of a massive amount of countries while selling arms to their opponents. Fight 2 World Wars plus a whole host of battles, conflicts, 'peacekeeping' and other nondescript actions. All this at the behest of democraticly elected people.

Oh just as an aside. For the last thirty odd years we have all lived with the threat of the bar you are in or the shop you have just entered into exploding in your face, losing your legs (if you are lucky) when your car starts with a large bang instead of a quiet purr, having your head blown off when you open your mail. I could go on ...

However being a poor old downtrodden nearly bankrupt overtaxed underpaid whinging whining Brit I can only use the same system that put the mad bugger in power to try and remove him.

This has been written in a lighthearted way and it is not my intent to insult or annoy anyone If however I have managed to do so then Tough take it as it was meant!!!

Most anything would be better than my daughter's choice. She is in the Peace Corps in Nukus, Uzbekistan. She says it's like living in the middle of a Mad Max movie.
