Some time ago, I began making dog collars, dog leashes, dog placemats, homemade dog biscuits, dog this, dog that.... and selling my wares at various, assorted art shows, craft festivals, holiday bazaars, etc. It just grew and grew and grew. Long story short, a couple months ago I stumbled upon a "self-service" dog wash that was for sale, and....... I bought it! She has been there for 5.5 years and has established clientele, and a really great set-up. And the best part is, it has a little kitchen in it, so I'll be able to bake my gourmet dog treats on site, and sell them fresh. There is plenty of room for me to expand the business and be able to sell my hand made dog stuff as well, and also some other retail items such as dog food, and various, other dog stuff. I also plan on hosting dog "play dates", a dog trainer once or twice a month, and I have had two dog rescue orgs approach me about hosting a "dog adoption day" on site, which I will gladly do. I will take possession on December 2nd. I have had 2 counselors from the SBA at my side, guiding me all the way and some other people helping me with licensing, inspections, permits, etc, and everything is falling into place, little by little.
I cannot even begin to tell you what a wonderful feeling it was to walk out the door - for the last time - at my job a week ago. There were all kinds of celebrations and happy dances and well wishes all around. I have full support from my family and friends, and this is truly a dream coming to life for me.
My website will be up and running in about a month. I will be featuring "Dog of the week" as I take photos of all the little darlings after they've had their beauty treatments.
The shop will be named after MY little darling, Murphy. It will be called "Murphy's Paw", and just so Kaz doesn't feel jilted, I'm working on some doggie clothing which will be dubbed "Kanine Kazuals". When my website is finished, you can see it at
"Fairy tales can come true..... it can happen to you...."
Wish me luck!!! (Joyous) Patti in Seattle
