OT In the north....

it gets HOT. Well beyond hot really.... like for 2 days in a row it is 110F (43C). Too hot to think let alone quilt or do anything other than melt..

So for those of you who believe the north is a cold climate to live in, I got news for ya, ITS NOT! lol

my sympathies KK. Now you may understand a bit why the southwest desert peoples do very little in the summer time. We have "cooled" down a bit, but had almost

2 weeks of 110°+ temps, but we are at the point where our lows are breaking records, for being high. (night before last our low was 91°) Last night there was a big fire at a pallet storage place in the south of town, temp was still well over 100° at 10 PM and these guys were trying to control flames that at times were well over 70' high. I don't envy the firefighters in this weather.

(I just stay inside and don't do much of anything at all. )

I hope you're not sending those ridiculously high temps down south to California. We had a couple of very hot days about 3 - 4 weeks ago, but overall, so far, our summer temps have been very moderate. I've been checking the extended forecast, because I leave on retreat next week for Sonoma, which last year was VERY hot (as it was here at home, as well). I'm hoping it will stay in the low 80's - I can live with that all day long!

I feel your pain KK..... it hasn't been as hot here as it has in your neck of the woods, but pretty unbearable for Seattle. I think I drank about 2 gallons of water on Wednesday!!! (think tropical beach, umbrella drinks, azure blue sea, towel boys..... )

Yikes! I thought we here in the Southwest were the only area with extremely hot temperatures! Of course, we're experiencing even higher temps than you are, but at least that's sort of expected here -- though not as early as it happened this year.

We're still over 110° here, Pati. I also try not to go out in this heat any more often than absolutely necessary. And tomorrow I leave for Flagstaff and comparatively cool temperatures! Yay! A week in the

80°-range and a lovely pine smell all around. :D

Heck, it cooled down to the 90's here Sandy. I forgot the solar cover on the pool and it was 92' last night. Yikes! Hope you have a great time up in the pines. I'm looking forward to hearing about all your fun when you return. I always like to see your projects too so we'll be waiting. Taria

sigh. I had high hopes of going to Flag for Quilt Camp this year. Really, really wanted to take at least one of Jennie Rayment's classes. But it wasn't meant to be. Maybe next year.

Do have fun. It is at least some cooler up there.

What a shame, Pati! I'm taking three of her classes and am very excited about it. :) If I'd known I was going to stay the entire week, I'd have skipped one of the others and taken her Friday one instead. Oh well -- I know the others will be wonderful. :)
