OT; OT; Accident.

Now it's my turn to ask all of you nice people to join me in prayers, good thoughts and positive vibes or whatever you do, for the families and friends of the 7 young men and one teacher who died in a terrible accident friday night, just about one mile short of their destination. They were members of a basketball team, coming back from playing a game in Moncton which is a trip of about 150 miles on snowy and icy roads to Bathurst NB. They were traveling in a 15 passenger van which included 4 other people, 1 is out of hospital and the other 3 are in stable condition. The driver was the coach and the teacher who died was his wife, his daughter is one of the 3 in hospital. The 7 young men were 15 and 17 years old, they are called the "boys in red". Bathurst is a small town, everybody are friends or relatives. The mayor decided to have the wake at the arena, so that it could accomodate a large amount of people, this afternoon there were long lines waiting to go into the arena. Tomorrow at 2:00pm will be the funeral service in the arena. The teacher will have her funeral service on thursday. Bathurst has recieved e-mails and phone calls from people all over Canada and elsewhere in the World asking if they could help in any way, The province of New Brunswick is mourning the lost of those young lives. Thank you very much for reading this and take care. Dixie in NB.

My heart breaks for those young men and their families as well as the teacher and her family. What a gut wrenching situation. I pray that somehow the community can heal the deep wounds they have suffered. How sad.

How tragic for everyone involved. It is so sad anytime an accident injures or takes a life... but so many young people affected (and their families) at once... is unbearable.

Prayers to the individuals, families, friends, colleagues and the community at large who no doubt will all mourn and pray together.

Nothing on earth can describe what must be the heartbreak of those families and the entire area. I can't imagine, and I frankly don't want to. I will add my prayers and good wishes to those of others. Surely some blessing will be felt by the families torn to pieces by this tragedy. May they find peace and comfort in this dark time.

Oh, Dixie, I'm so sorry that this tragedy had to happen! It's always awful when something like this occurs, and in a small town no one is left untouched.

How very sad, Dixie. So many young lives taken. I hope the gathering of the community into one large area gave the families some sense of support. . In message , Dixie writes

Dixie, The families, friends, and neighbors of the students and teacher are all in my prayers. This is such a tragedy. It is a loss to the community, and to your nation ... who knows what those young people may have accomplished if they matured to normal old age. With sympathy. Pat Virginia, USA
