OT: ranting

sorry, but since nobody else seems to be listening, I thought I'd vent here. It's been a week since the deer hit my van. Insurance company STILL has not gotten the appraisal for the damage "that they could see"

- meaning they didn't open the hood to check for engine damage. Well, if the engine light, oil light, air bag sensor light and some little red light that I don't know what it is for came on, there is engine damage!!! So, I just spoke with one of the insurance reps who said she would call to get the appraisal and that if i wanted to I could have it towed to the shop where I want the work done (car is currently sititng in a storage lot in a different town) and that way they could get to it ASAP to determine if there is any engine damage...um, hello??? the IS engine damage!!! Anyway...just tried to call shop, and they aren't open yet. Will try to call them again in a few minutes.

So, we are over $100 on the rental car, not mentioning the gas that I had to put in it - nice ride, cool car, only 15mpg!! Probably will end up having my van totaled out which means trying to locate another car....not the best thing to do around Christmas, though prices will probably be lower since they want to clear out the older cars to make way for newer stock. It's frustrating and annoying and makes me want to spit nails.

The plus side is that I am still not experiencing any pain. Had some aching in the shoulder yesterday, but it was more of a deep joint pain, and though it was the same shoulder that was tight after the accident, it is also the shoulder that was dislocated. Because of the wonky weather and pressure changes, I didn't think anything about it.

So....anybody have a good family car suggestion for me?? Checked Kelly Blue Book, Edmunds, and Consumer Reports....from CR, the top cars based on owner reports are: Honda Odyssey, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota 4-Runner, Highlander, and Sienna. Currently, the Odyssey and SIenna are top for me because they have the side curtain air bags, which will protect my little ones a bit better....

Larisa, getting ready to get back to washing fabric and cutting blankets out since there's nothing else to do but wait

Go Hyundai! I'm on my third one - no problems, parts and servicing are inexpensive. Make sure you invest in a tow bar - even if you don't tow. Protects your rear end some from people who choose to back/drive into you. Family size - go the Sonata (I have the Levant which is going on for 9 years old), plenty of boot space, nice and roomy inside with all the gizmos.
