OT: Ringing in the new year with a White Blanket....

of snow!

Here in Southeast Michigan... .about 12 - 13 inches.

DH spent about 1 1/2 hours blowing the snow off the driveway, deck and front walk. Thank heavens we have the snowblower -- to shovel this mess would have taken all day!

So where are you... and what (weatherwise) did you awaken to?

(And if you live down under and have temps in the 80's and 90's and above... send some of it this direction!)

Here in southeastern Minnesota, it's cold (+3 degrees F. & -6 degree wind chill) and there is snow on the ground, but no new snow today. I'm staying inside :)

It's about 55 degrees here in Mississippi, but sunny and pretty out side.

Here in the 'mid-west' of the UK, it is still, mild, grey and foggy. We are promised/threatened snow later in the week, as the wind gets up and comes from the east. . In message , Kate G. writes

I woke up to temps at about 55 degrees or so. Yuck. We had temps into the

70s all week and now this? But, hey, if you're going to be cold, at least you have some snow to play in!! If you don't want your snow, I'll take some - I'm going to be cold anyway! :(

Oh, I also woke up to a guinea pig staring me in the face (DS thought seeing mom scream was funny as heck!). They're teeth look REALLY big and nasty when you're starin' at'em from 5 inches away comin' out of a dead sleep!!

Hugs!! Connie :)

We had a little bit of new snow overnight, but I think the wind is blowing hard enough to get it off our drive and sidewalks! I don't think it amounted to even 1/2 inch, but at this point, we really don't need any more! It's supposed to get up to about 11 degrees today I think - I just saw someone out for a walk, but I think I'll stay inside and stick to the treadmill!

I've also done some sewing this morning, so if it's true that what you do on January 1 is what you'll do for the rest of the year, I'll be a walking, quilting marvel by the end of the year!

Lucky you!!!!!!!! We still have zero snow-not my idea of winter. It's supposed to snow tonight, then be in the 40's and 50's by the week-end. Gen

We're supposed to get snow later in the week, which is good if it lasts. I want to go skiing, and we tend to get snow in January, or early February. The Highlands have been having snow for some weeks now, but it's not made it down here yet.....

You blow off the deck? No one around here would bother with that! We basically keep the driveway navigable, but the sidewalk or anything else is usually kind of pointless. But you people 'way down south (Lower Peninsula) are getting a lot more snow than we are here in the Upper Peninsula this winter. We got maybe about four new inches last night--not really worth mentioning. We haven't had a good winter storm yet this season. Surprisingly, it's all stayed well to the south of us. Generally I don't like snow much, but if we have to have it, I love the temporary snowed-in, shut-down feeling. Temporary being a key word. Don't have to go anywhere, perfect for sewing!

Here it started with freezing rain in the morning , then switched to snow by about noon and it is still coming down, not so much an hour, but constant. I think there's between 4 & 5 inches of the white stuff on my deck. All the kids who got sleds for Christmas will be thrilled.
