OT: selling my van

I don't know how many people knew that my beloved dh, was paralyzed and spent the last few years of his life in a power wheel chair. We went out on a limb and purchase an accessible van. I wanted him to have the freedom to do things and go places the best he could. Since his passing, I've decided to consign the van and need to get it sold ASAP. I am going into a debt I can no longer pay while I still own it.

So, with the power of good thoughts and prayers from this group, I'm hoping it sells quickly and for what I need to get out of it. And with the economy, I'm even going so far as to crossing my fingers, along with praying to God.

I am feeling the love, comfort and support from you all through my hug quilt everytime I wrap myself up in it. My QI's also have been enjoying it, when I'm not in the house. I can tell because I fold it and it looks a little rumpled when I return.

Anyhow, Thanks everyone for your love and support, It feels my spirit with hope and warmth, Launie, in Oregon

Sending good wishes on a successful and timely sale for the van. I wonder if it would be useful for you to send out notices to facilities and support groups that might serve clients who need such special transportation. A Veteran's Admin Rehab Center comes to mind. Take care, Launie. PAT

I hope you can sell your van as soon as possible Launie. You KNOW someone, somewhere needs one. I hope they find you quickly!

Along those lines, is there a Veteran's ombudsman group you can contact, or an area rehabilitation center that you can let know what you have? Even a large medical center may have some resources for you to check with.

Well, in this sort of situation, the HUG is for the whole family, not just the "named" recipient :-). Remember, your QI "babies" suffered a loss too; they seem to need the comfort a HUG can bring. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Keep your fingers crossed! Did you know that crossed fingers is an ancient Christian gesture? So -- you never need to feel guilty about doing something superstitious, etc!

I didn't know that, or maybe at one time I heard it and had forgotten it. Interesting! Now if I can just remember that. Launie, in Oregon

Michelle,

I have consigned it with a local accessible dealership; well as local as it could be anyway. They're an hour and a half away. They are reputable and in a good location. I also considered going to the hospital where my DH did rehab and put up a post card on one of the bulletin boards there. I also considered listing it on Craig's list and giving the info out of the dealership. I know they have done that before and don't want to duplicate the listing. I thought it best to leave it to them to do their job, but I will contact other resources such as as nursing homes and such. It doesn't hurt to put the word out! Thanks, Launie, in Oregon

I don't know how this would work, perhaps checking with your tax accountant. Maybe you can donate the van to something like Make a Wish foundation or Cars for Causes or a non-profit cause, and get a tax write-off, if you do not need the cash.
