OT slightly - chair pockets

Does anyone have a pattern for a chair cover that slips over a child's chair with a pocket on the back for their papers and books? DD teaches Kindergarten, and she would like to have something like that for her students. They sit at tables, not desks, and their little cubbies have their pillows and blankets for their rest period. I don't know why she thinks I can do something like that with no pattern. She said she thought it would be easy for someone like me who sews. She thinks I should just be able to whip something up. This comes from someone who can't sew on a button. I never sewed until I quit working so she thinks I should be able to do anything. I guess that is what I get for making pillows and quilts for the grandkids, lol.

Hi Sherry,

I googled chair pockets and this was one of the links.

I volunteer in a classroom that uses chair pockets and they look pretty simple. They can get pretty elaborate if you want to take the time to decorate them. The kids in my class have their own, with their names on them. Other teachers keep them and use year after year.

Sorry, I don't have a pattern.

I hope she doesn't have 30 children in the class!

Thanks for your help. I have sent her the google link. I couldn't make them for what she can buy them for. Some of the sites give teacher discounts. I will personalize them for her if that is what she would like to do.

She thinks you can do it because you are her mom, therefore you can make anything. Don't worry, eventually her kids will ask something nearly impossible of her, for the very same reason.

I bought plastic-y ones for my girls - $1.99 each.

If you let me know how wide the chairs are and how deep she want the pockets I could whip up a pattern for you in no time. I have one wriggling around in the back of my head but need numbers. It may or may not be exactly what she's looking for, but it's cheap and easy so it can't hurt to consider my idea.
