OT Storms last night turned to small tornado

I am still behind in reading, just got on to post. Last night we had terrible storms and around midnight a small tornado touched down and again around 6 AM. We lost most of our car port and a couple of trees and didn't have power until about an hour ago, my sisters still do not have power or phone, well one has phone one doesn't. And of course the worse part of it all for us is that when you are on a well you can't flush or clean up because it takes power to run the pump. Carried nine gallons of water today to flush with.

Now I have not heard of anyone people injured but the roof came off one building in town and landed on a house two streets over, thank God that man was not home. The West end of town looked like a war zone where all the windows were blown out of the store fronts. We live down in the mountains and this is the first time I have ever seen anything like that before. It was quite an experience but I am sure there are people that are lots worse off than this little town. Hope to catch up tomorrow, but for now I am going to bed, because I listened to wind all last night.

thoughts and prayers for those victim to Mother Nature. Makes us all pause and remember... a couple of things...

1) there are many things in our lives over which we have no control 2) people and relationships are far more valuable than possessions.

Kate, I can't agree with you more. This was the scariest time for me and I just think what others have gone though in the past, present and will go through in the future. The newspaper said this was not a tornado although they say the winds were from 80-100 miles per hour but some sort of freakish straight line wind that came down from the mountains. No idea what that means but it was as much wind as I have any desire to see. I am very thankful that no one in our town was injured because there was a lot of room for injury and if it had happened during the day or earlier in the night I am sure there would have been injuries. My sister's didn't get their power back until this evening, they spent the day with us and it was fun, although it seemed everyone was worn out from doing nothing yesterday, due to no power, we managed to get the limbs and the one tree up out of the yard and a few things such as that done.

I pray I never go through anything like this again and I pray that no none else does either, or even worse than this.

Jacqueline who has a lot to be thankful for and this group is one of those things. Jacqueline from Kentucky

Jacqueline,

I, too, am behinding on my RCTQ reading, so just found your post. Sounds like one scary storm! I used to live in Kansas, so I am familiar with tornadoes. Hope by now, your power is back on, the phone lines are working, and things are returning to normal.

Positive thoughts heading your way,
