OT: suggestions wanted

Okay fellow denziens of the cyber-quilting world, I need some suggestions here. No, not quilting suggestions, which is why this is OT.

DS ends his school year tomorrow, and has shown an interest in crafting

- right now, he is hounding me for sewing lessons and knitting lessons. I know that we will be outside a lot (pool is set up and "ready for go") playing on the swingset, etc., but I need some other indoor craft ideas.

I was thinking about getting him started on simple straight-stitch work (by hand because if he can't sit long enough to focus on that, he doesn't have the focus needed to use the sewing machine), then maybe having him do some felt-work - nothing like starting on Christmas presents 6 months early, right??

Any ideas??

Larisa

P.S. He doesn't go to summer camp - tried it once, but the amount of supervision was not acceptable, thereby putting him at a higher risk (run at a school, right near a major road, and they had only 2/3 the staff that they said they would have). We will be getting him swimming lessons, probably next year, but for now he is content splashing around in the pool we have (only about 3' deep, enough to cool off in).

They have a lot of rug hooking kits out there --- I bet he could do that!.. Then make it a pillow when you're finished.... or a wall hanging for his room!

Howdy!

Suggestion: take a nicely ripe avocado, smash it down, mix in come freshly chopped cilantro, lime juice and some butter or healthy-butter-substitute; spread over warm/hot corn on the cob-- Enjoy!

Suggestion: leave out the avocado and do the cilantro/lime butter-- also delicious!

Ragmop/Sandy--well, the subject line says "suggestions wanted" ! and I was taking a break from the Pink&Purple Princess quilt...
