OT Thanks

The support from members of this group has been tremendous. I received a call last night that my mother wants me to "come home". So Friday or Saturday I will be going to help care for her and my father. I'm hoping to find a wireless hot spot to check in now and then but can't promise anything.

Be well.

Take good care of yourself too, along with caring for your mother. And we're here whenever you can check in. {{{hugs}}}

Mary, I hope everything goes well and that you and your DH will find the perfect job.

Your county library will probably offer good internet connections free to the public. Best wishes during this difficult time. PAT in VA/USA

A number of McDonald's are also offering free wireless hot spots. Panera does the same.

The Paneras around here also have a working fireplace. After the Quilt Show last week, my wanna -be-quilter friend and I sat next to the fire, had coffee and pastry. Mine had chocolate .... surprise! Nice, but those places are for profit, while the library has free internet.

PAT, still enjoying the new purchases from last weekend!

Oh, I definitely recommend using the library if someone isn't intending to buy anything. But my local library won't let me have a salad and tea while I surf, and they're only open about 20 hours a week. :)

(I also recommend making a small donation to the library, even if it's just a buck. Most library systems are woefully underfunded and that internet connection costs them money, just like businesses.)

Howdy!

Details, details, details! That's what we want, Pat: details! ;->

Panera: there are several in the Metroplex, w/ a new one going in on a corner in n.Arlington. (another quilter was talking about Panera

week, spelled it Pantera, which I found quite delightful:

[Dime: RIP])

La Madeleine Cafés around here have a nice fireplace to cozy up to, esp when the a/c is turned to full blast. Yummy eats. And always on the path to the quilt shop.

Wireless Hot Spots: Coming Soon to a Quilt Shop Near You -- wouldn't that be a good idea? Shoppers could post their shopping DETAILS online before they even leave the store! ;-P (see Butterfly pull up w/ a screech of brakes in the StashRaiders Mobile) Btw, the library doesn't allow food inside; how can we possibly surf the net and not snack at the same time?

Well, as I wait for my printing to finish, I will answer. Then I REALLY need to get this task finished! (Volunteer administrative work for a special community horticultural event. NOT as fun as sew & sow!)

I bought a few Aunt Gracie Pink prints to start the guild challenge, based on song "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White." Then a couple interesting FQ held me hostage until I bought them. Finally, for some reason I bought a KIT!! It has luscious purple and green fabric .... mostly cut into strips. Weird because I do NOT like kits, nor do I like cut strips. My pet tiger is on alert against stash raid.

DH and I were joking around awhile back about quitting our jobs and opening up a "Bait and Stitch" shop - which would have chilled beer and bait for the gents and all things quilty, free net and plenty of chocolate. And so we dream.......

Last time we were in our Library, they had 2 vending machines...one for drinks and the other some kind of snacks, I didn't check them out but they were in the MAIN PART of the Library.

My branch is at the local high school (the high school and junior college use the public library as their school library). The staff there KNOW better than to allow the little rug rats to have food and drink! LOL

ooooo--I like the sound of that! Thanks, Pat. Do you have enough pink A.G. now? I was rootling the stash yesterday (friends have just adopted a little boy, new dad said to my husband, "tell Sandy the Quilter it's a boy!") and came across my Aunt Grace stash: love it! And I also took a look at a tub w/ several large kits in it; I don't *do* kits, but some of the fabrics in there look good, still, and the biggest kit was put together by my former boss at the quilt shop; PaulaB died exactly one year ago so I will hold on to this kit. Paula's most popular quilt (not a kit!):

Pet tiger, huh? Sure, whatever you say. (Hey! Somebody get the tiger bait! ..no, no, no, not Tiger Beat!)

Have a great horticultural event, Pat!

'Tis simple, just ask Miz Polly to bring one of the gators......can't you just picture them having a stand-off. NOOOOOOOO, not Miz Polly---the tiger and the gator. That should keep both of them occupied whilst we have a good-old-fashioned-rootle. 'Specilly if both are on short leashes and can't quite get to one another.

Well, it is easy to see why that is a popular quilt, Sandy. Paula did a lovely job with color, fabric style, and those asymmetrical borders. Thanks for the picture.

What are you doing for the baby quilt? I like 4" pinwheel blocks for a baby quilt, and the 1930s fabric seems to be just right for pinwheels.

Hey, I want a beer too! Some beer goes well with a nice dark chocolate. That is what I learned at the free beer tasting at Busch Gardens. Hey, BG will open again in just a few weeks! Woo Hoo!

That is E X A C T L Y what I NEED right now...Ugly, uglier, and ugliest.

You need to come up with something better than that to keep me away......it may be the LAST RAID my Yukon gets to go on. It's dying a slow painful die..after 10 years of service : ( So the guys have been searching for a good replacement....then I get to go on the final--which one out of

2 --test. Saves my back from all the in/out that they are doing...and I get to QUILT without interruptions when they are gone.

Butterfly (I will truly miss it : (
