OT: Weather

Ten inches of new snow on my deck, 9 degrees F right now out there. More snow between now and noon and again tonight. High today, 13 F. More snow Wednesday. High this week: 22 F.

Our driveway is aboutt 75 yards from garage to street.

I'm soooooooooooooo glad we bought a snow blower last year.

Sunny hoping everybody is warm, dry and drinking lots of hot beverages of your choice (Jack Daniels goes just lovely in Jasmine Green Tea with a dollop of honey)

We have 8 inches of snow at our place (near Portland, OR), with a quarter inch of ice from freezing rain on top of it. This is the worst storm we've had since Jan. 2004 when the city closed down for a week.

So far during this week-long storm, I finished one bed-size quilt and one baby quilt, and just need to sew on the binding of another baby quilt and it will be done. I guess I didn't need to worry about getting them finished by Christmas.

I am so grateful for having fabric as a distraction. As soon as I finish the second baby quilt I'll start cutting out the quilt kit I got last week. Life is good!

I've been watching Oregon weather and saw that Portland was/is a mess. I'm sure my grandkids in Eugene area are disappointed that all they are getting is rain. We have 1-2 inches on top of the 3 feet we got last week.

My sister lives in Bothell, and works down near the Seattle airport. She told me she hasn't felt safe to get off the hill there, but since these are her days off she is okay with that. She goes back to work mid-week and hopes the roads are passable. My other sister lives somewhere else in Seattle where the buses are refusing to go.

Here in Ventura County CA it is just very cold on the coast, we do have snow on our back hills, though.

My granddaughter was supposed to come home from Portland Wednesday. She's still there! Hope she makes it home before Christmas.

she might have better luck if she could get down to Eugene.

Don't think that would be much better. She would still have mountains to cross and it can get pretty bad around Bend and would take her miles and miles more to go that way. Just checked the weather for Bend - they have heavy snow warnings, too.

I hope so. She's leaving Jan 1 for an eleven month missionary trip to eleven different countries. She needs to get home so she can get things done and packed before she leaves again. If anyone's interested - here's the link to the World Race -
