I had a great week. Wednesday night, at our final guild meeting, the outgoing President hosted a challenge. The theme was tranquility, in a small wall hanging using any technique. My wall hanging was a beach scene, machine pieced and quilted. I used tiny sea shells that were glued onto the surface, and I stitched a small sand dollar in one corner. I had a folding beach chair in my 1" scale dollhouse things, so I stitched that to the corner and added a basket of shells to the seat. To my amazement, I won first prize in the mixed media category! Received a $40 gift certificate at a local shop as a prize as well as a wonderful ribbon. On Friday, a friend hosted a quilt-a-thon at a local shop, with the quilts going to the pediatric oncology unit at the local hospital. The shop allowed us to use their classroom, including all their machines! I took 2 finished quilts, then stayed to finish 2 quilt kits, and machine quilt 2 others. We had a room full of people working, chatting, visiting, and everyone had a blast. I'm not sure how many quilts were finished, but there was a huge stack taken out to my friend's car at the end of the day. Pictures are in my "Quilts 07" album.
