Quilting Hoarder

I haven't seen this either, and here on the East Coast it airs at 8 and 11 pm. I had to check our cable provider's wev site to find OWN's channel number!

I'm going to suggest that we only watch this by ourselves! The name of the show is Enough Already with Peter Walsh & the description is: A family feels quilting clutter comes before them. We don't want to give our dear loved ones any ammunition to complain about our passion! But thanks Donna for posting this. I can't wait to see how Peter handles it!

This program was discussed on another quilting board a couple of weeks ago. I DVR'd and watched. No mention of fabric; no view of fabric; no discussion on quilting organization - nothing. Simply that there is too much stuff (and I mean - TOO MUCH STUFF EVERYWHERE) that the adult daughter will not allow her child to spend time and G'ma's house. Frankly I don't blame her. And while I like Peter Walsh and the show, to me it's like Undercover Boss - same show each time...just different people in it. Toss out the extra stuff that's really not important and organize the stuff that is important. Nothing we don't know already.

Just my 2 cents.

Just finished watching this and I'm not sure if you seen the same show, but I seen a lot of fabric and a lot of quilts. Granted there was a ton of other crap in there but I did see the fabric. The end result was finishing off the garage for her quilts of valor. Tons of shelving and plastic storage bins. Nice place for quilting machine. Nice cutting area and even a shipping area. Well done Peter Walsh.

Nice finish. Overall show: melodramatic, contrived. ... well, it is O.W.network.

With this woman "hoarding" those Quilts of Valor (why is she waiting so long to dispatch?), I'm reminded of the most recent Baseball Swap, w/ the woman in N.M. hoarding our BUPs.

Yeah wondering if we can get ahold of Peter Walsh and send him in for our BUPS.

I was wondering the same thing about why she was holding onto them unless she uses BIG boxes to ship and didn't have enough to fill them.

I kept looking for her sewing machine thru out the entire show! Finally....there it was in her nice new garage. She did have a lot of fabric...what a garage sell she could have had. But the material is going to other Quilts of Valor so everyone wins.

And I would have loved to have gone thru her craft material. I have a thing for different and cute fun buttons. Wonder just what she had.

I just watched the show on our DVR. Yes, she had a lot of fabric! Even though she didn't keep it all, it went to other Quilt of Valor groups. Hopefully, it'll all get used, instead of piling up somewhere! I also wondered why she had so many completed quilts lying around. I liked the garage set up, but wondered where she lives that they can work out there year round! Also, no ironing board or rolls of batting in sight! And, cement floor....ugh! Well, at least she can use her living room and dining room again with her family

My thoughts exactly as to lack of ironing station; batting, etc. Maybe that was all tidied up for the camera shots. I'm guessing they are somewhere in/near FL as I saw palm trees in some of the shots. I'd love to have an area like that for sewing but since I think my whole house fits in her garage I don't think it will happen any time soon!

They are in Southern California -- I Googled her name with Quilt of Valor -- and discovered they are in the Orange County area generally....

Taria, the poor dear lady let things get out of control. Don't associate it with participating in QOV. It could just as well have been that she tatted antimacassars and placed them on every possible surface. I don't think the 'solution' or 'help' was all that great either. Quilting in an unheated/not-cooled garage with a cement floor is a cruel sentence. She needs support - wouldn't it be lovely if the group she donated fabric to would come cheer her on and help her? Yes, she let things get out of control, but the show was actually tame compare to some of the others. Her house didn't look all that nasty, it was just all the clutter. Some of those hoarders shows I cannot watch. Especially if they involve the insides of peoples' refrigerator or pets that aren't cleaned up after. Yech. As hard as it is to watch, it does make me organize and clean and toss things/ give things away I don't use.
