Replying to myself here. I sent a shoulder shawl to my dad and others, My dad got his package today, saw the holiday wrapping and opened it right up, as did my one sister today. It must be Christmas in their minds ;) They were both pleasantly surprised, and my dad said in his email he was wearing it as he sent me a note.

I made that Egyptian quilt for DD while I was away at the cabin in Lizard Land this past summer. No photos yet since it's a Christmas gift and if I post photos then DD could likely see them and know about the quilt :-)). I do hope I remember to take photos on Christmas!! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

That has got to be the 'best' thank you there is. Mine was when my Grand Niece was traveling and had to leave her blankie HOME! When she got to our house, and finished lunch, I handed her a tote and told her to see what's in there. Her Mom had asked me to make one exactly like hers at home as she had outgrown it. She laid it out on the futon, climbed on, and wrapped up. She had the biggest grin on her face. When it was time to leave, she stuffed it in best she could. No way was she leaving HER blankie behind again. She did let me re-fold it so it would fit.

When I did them last weekend, his was the first, then tweaked the pattern a bit for the others, playing around with the size of the strips. Did the last 4 in an assembly line style, took not a lot of time that way. They are not "frou-frou" so that he would be embarrassed wearing it [his was a solid tan flannel one side, print of moose/canoes/pine trees/animal tracks on the other]. Glad Jeanne posted the link!

Everyone in my family and many of my friends have been gifted with one or more of my quilting creations. I have made a number of quilts as wedding gifts and baby gifts too. It is a rare thing that I keep a quilt for myself. I am hoping to get better at that however.. julia
My Christmas things were delivered in October before we headed south. My BFF's son is getting married - supposed to be in July, but now in January. Since they already have a well supplied home, I am making them Christmas stuff - tablecloth, placemats, wall hanging and tree skirt. I'll probably make napkins as well. I told her that their gift will be delivered sometime in the spring, as we are not returning to the frozen north for the wedding. I also found out that 2 more baby quilts are required shortly after our return north!
Just finishing the quilting on a quillow for DD - Warm Wishes with cats. She's had a worrying month as her DH was to be redundented in January (he's a pilot and was flying the 'rich and famous', but now they are travelling like the rest of us - on normal services). He has just been offered a job flying 767s again for a foreigh airline obviously not affected by the credit squeeze, so hopefully their worries are over for the time being, but thought she needed a little extra hug for Christmas. The top and 'bag' was pieced and sandwiched, but not quilted. That should be finished tomorrow, and then there's just the binding. Should be done in time.

I have finished some, and have some to finish. (along with class samples. sigh.) Did a quilt for my nephew's Bar Mitzvah, and got it mailed only a week late. Have one quilt done, because it was a class sample for a "new" grand-nephew (niece got married and adopted her husbands little boy. about the same age (4??) as her daughter.) Need to layer and quilt the larger quilt for the newlyweds, and do the same for a smaller quilt for grand-niece. Big brother (age 10?) is getting a back pack (Chelsea, from Lazy Girl Designs) made with U of AZ fabric. (They are in the Tucson area and family are all U of A fans) Have to finish a few more of the quick "Cozy Shawls" for some of the "gals" in the family. And have bags made for several of them too. Now to figure out what to do for my brother in law and 2 college age nephews. sigh. (Quilts are planned for "some year", maybe next year. ) Probably I will make some steering wheel covers, maybe Wonder Wallets with food gift cards.
