S.E.X. and chocolate...

I thought that might grab your attention! ;)

Alan took me shopping the other day, to Puddleducks in Sevenoaks. It turned into rather an expensive trip! I bought:

A BIG box of Big Fat Pins with large yellow heads for use with the kids. They are MUCH better at clearing these evil objects up than ordinary pins, and since most of the fabrics I use with them are furnishing fabrics, it makes sense to use big pins.

A 3m chunk of petrol blue Moda Marble for James: he wants a bright blue shirt, and while 3m might seem excessive, we can always use the excess up for quilts... :)

A 3m chunk of Bitter chocolate coloured 'Color Kazoo' from Andover fabrics. This is for borders.

Fat quarters:

Chocolat Caramel Paisley Chocolat Sweet Nothings Chocolat Tonal Chocolat Truffles A gold and caramel stripe from Timeless Treasures A Wyndham Fabrics 'Sloan pattern in chocolate and cream Moda Essential Dots in cream on dark coffee White stars on a vanilla background Little Gold Christmas Stars on a vanilla/cream splodge background, by Makower A brown one with a pink dot and stars pattern A Chocolat tin! :) Together with all the lovely fabrics folk here sent to me when I reached my goal weight (and yes, despite Christmas and new Year I AM still within my 5lb margin!) and what I already had in the stash, I have almost enough to get this started! :) I think I may need a few more medium and lighter fabrics, in the caramel/toffee/vanilla directions to balance all the lovely dark things, but I am aiming for this to be a deep rich looking quilt over all, and a sort of sampler of different large scale block, possibly 12" square, with a nice deep border.

Ah... Yummm!

Hey Kate!

Those sound great! I've been collecting chocolates, too. Might do the TO chocolate block exchange on a new-to-me handcrank! grin

I wanted to reply to one of your other emails where you said you had made a chocolate silk dupion outfit for a customer. Use those scraps in your quilt, too! Silk adds a neat dimension to an all-cotton quilt, a little bit of shimmer without screaming "Glitz!"

I wash and dry the silk in the washing machine prior to putting it in the quilt so I know it won't shrink or run or anything once its sewn in. You could test a pre-measured square to see if it shrinks, too. The silk dupion that I have used hasn't shrunk, but they might not all be created equal....

I also allow a little more seam allowance on those pieces and top-stitch or quilt on the seam allowances to prevent ravelling.

Just a thought!

And congrats on sticking to your goal weight!
