Sad update

The chapter has ended with my dad's situation. He passed away this afternoon. I'm very thankful he didn't have to suffer with pain and disability any longer than he did. He had less than two months of hospitalization and struggle. In the big picture, that's not too bad. He was one of the good guys and we are going to miss him. I'm so sorry for your loss. How wonderful that you had a father who was "one of the good guys." He must have been proud of you and honored by your love.

Gentle Hugs, Sunny

Kathyl,

I'm so sorry to hear this, but I'm so glad you had the opportunity to spend some time with him recently. That's a time you'll treasure, even though he wasn't his normal self.

From the little bit you've told us, it sounds like he was a terrific guy and you'll have some good memories to help you through this pain.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Kathyl}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} We'll keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you so much Louise. I am so very very glad I got down to see him last month. Time can slip away so fast that we can miss those opportunities and then have regrets. I remember our last hug and "I love you" and I'm glad it was at home at the kitchen counter rather than in a hospice bed. And I feel guilty about it since my brother and mother had to endure the past couple of days without me. I'll be heading back soon for those final ceremonial goodbyes. I'm a weeper....so I'm dreading it. But we'll make it through.

Kathy I am so very sorry. Although my dad died back in 1982 I can still remember how much it hurt. Please take care of yourself. (((HUGS)))

Kathyl that really touched me. I remember before my brother's funeral service I had such a difficult time trying to decide whether to put on mascara or not- would it be 'safe' to wear it or would I burst into tears and have black streaks all over my face. It seemed to be such a monumental decision that day and seems so silly now. Go ahead and cry- it's healing and you needn't feel embarrassed by honest emotions powered by a great loss and a deep love. The world just lost a wonderful man- he deserves some tears. And you must give yourself permission to mourn him in whatever form it takes.

Hugs 'n hugs 'n hugs,

Leslie

OMG, I am so sorry, Kathy!!!! I know it's not worth much, but you and your family are in our prayers. If there's ANYTHING I can do, please don't hesitate for even a second to let me know ....

And Leslie's absolutely right ... you cry all you want, need and feel like. If anyone has the right to be weepy, it's you, Sweetie. You better believe that when my Gramma died, I cried for hours & hours & hours. If I was "allowed" to cry like that over my Gramma, you can cry even harder if you need to, over your Daddy.

Big warm, gentle quilty hugs, Connie
