My MIL is the best person on earth and I love her dearly and would really like to have her closer. We share a lot of interests and she was one of the first people to encourage me to quilt and have fun with it. She sent an email about a month ago asking if I'd heard of Kwik Sew -- the pattern company. Seems somebody loaned her a book about quilted jackets and a Kwik Sew pattern was the one the book based its technique on. She was really taken with the idea but expressed hesitance about a pattern that she'd never heard of the company.
Well, I immediately went to a website that sells patterns and ordered it for her. As so often happens with good things, that pattern was on back order. Finally I got an email that it was being mailed. Well, MIL called last night. She got the pattern and was so very excited. She was going to go out this weekend and look at fabric to find something just right. Darn I wish we were closer. I bet I have the very thing in my stash.
Anyway, she's in her late 80s. My FIL will be 90 in June. He's ...... um, not as much fun as she is. But he's really loosened up since I joined the family way back in the early 80s.
So I'm considering making some kind of garment now and decorating it with embellishments. I have been thinking about it since she first brought it up and now I think I just have to.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Another new thing to try.
Hugs, Sunny
