Happy, happy dancing!!!

Not only did I *finally complete a quilt to send to a dear friend's baby (it's not so terribly late--the baby was born in November--but it took 5 tops and 3 finished to get the right one for her. Pics are up in the 2009 album, and the quilt's going out by Tuesday.

But also.....it's official.....an HQ16 will be here in 7 to 14 days!!! The timing depends on how much modifications need to be done for it to work perfectly with my Pfaff-by-Grace Imperial frame. What a decision, especially in these times. Lots of macaroni for dinner. But DH said I really had to do it since it's my "therapy," but I was about to drive him over the edge by obsessing over it .

The austerity program begins tomorrow. He'd had reservations at a lovely restaurant for tomorrow, but we stopped at our new DQ, rebuilt after a fire, and saw their signs for a Valentine's Day dinner by candlelight. Valentine's dinner at Dairy Queen sounded so wonderfully absurd that we just had to try it...

A Valentine's dinner at DQ sounds delightful. We remember well the days when we could only afford one orange slushie there to share. How wonderful that you have your priorities in such happy order. Warm best wishes with the HQ. Good, good for you both. Polly

They're all lovely; but after seeing what the Mom said, the one you chose is perfect. It really is stunning. . In message , "heidi (was rabbit2b)" writes

Thanks, Joanna!

I've been griping about the winter here in Indianapolis (it feels at least as cold as our 25 years in Minnesota, but maybe that's because we're getting older and more crotchety...) I can't imagine what it's like in Alberta.

Are you quilting, or are you using all your fabric for insulation?? Can we see your work?

Thanks!

Well, that's the thing. I'd actually already done four of the tops and quilted two when mom said she wanted to go Guatemalan! So our DGD, now nine, will get the bright one that looks sort of pre-teen. Not sure what will happen to #4. Haven't been expecting anyone else to be expecting, but maybe it's time for some phone calls

Thanks! Actually, it would never have occurred to me to make it for a newborn. I'm glad mom spoke up, because if that's what she wanted, any of the others would have been packed away somewhere.

Thanks. To me, #4 is the most "baby girl." Happily, #5 was the easiest of any of them and only the yellow/multi stripe wasn't already in my stash!

OK, I'm being dense; but when I click on your URL, I don't see an album dated 2009. I'd love to see you quilt! What am I doing wrong? Michelle

I'm still hunting for the 2009 album! - in your webshots I can't see beyond 2005 album and on your own website not sure where to look. Have I missed a click somewhere that everyone else seems to have found - has my computer decided I shouldn't see?!

I would love to look - can you point me in the right direction, please.

very strange. I saw the album when Heidi first posted about the baby quilts but it's gone now.

Heidi,

Congrats on the baby quilt. Ummmm.... I guess I'm blind, but I don't see an album marked 2009. However, I've thoroughly enjoyed looking at some of your others. That lattice quilt in WIPs is fabulous! Also found Michael's quilt very striking. And I love the scrappy heart quilt--Renee's quilt.

Enjoy your HQ16!

Glad I'm not the only one Michelle. I just wrote a post with the same question. Do you think maybe the website has something against Michelles? I'm a Michelle too. :-)

I'm not a Michele, but DH is Michael - that must count as I can't get the pictures either!

Hmm. I wonder whether Webshots was just being cranky. It seems to be there now. If you can't see it, I'll report it to them, but it should be the very first album...

Thanks for the link. You've done a lot of nice stuff!

What are you planning for the star sampler blocks?

Spring will come. Repeat after me...
