I did finally finish the Kimono quilt (it needed binding)... still needs a label. Since I got it back it back from the long arm quilter in Minnesota it has been hanging in my LQS as advertising for a class doing the paper piecing of the kimonos and the fusible applique of the Kanji characters.
The class concluded today (met twice -- last Tuesday and today). My 3rd official stint as a Quilt Class Instructor! My first project class. I was nervous about this class. Not sure why -- but I was.
Things went very well. Two women were life-long 100% quiltmakers by hand. But they had decided they wanted to do a mariner's compass and so decided to take the plunge and take a paper-piecing class. They had seen my quilt in the shop and loved it. (I must admit, the quilt is pretty... but what makes it extra-ordinary is the work of my long arm quilter. She is phenomenal and takes a nice quilt... and WOWS it beyond belief.)
Anyhow, the ladies as they were leaving asked what other classes I would be teaching... maybe doing a few things by machine from time to time might be fun! And said some very kind things to the shop owner.
I had great fun..... and look forward to teaching some more classes! These women were all so different... but we had such fun. And I can't wait to see their finished quilts.
