steam a seam

Jul 20, 2006 20 Replies

hii to all.. here I am, again.. I bought the fusible web steam a seam 2 (in internet shop.. here in Italy I never found it) , and I'll try it maybe next saturday.. Can someone of you tell me how you find this paper? Do it work well? and what 's the right temperature, the same for cotton? I would like to try an easier way to make appliqu=E8..

Ouhhh I have also a news.. I don't know if you remember.. Some months ago we lost our black kitty (a 7 kg, 3 years old cat), somebody bring him away, I suppose. (and I was so sad!!). SO one friend of mine yesterday gave me a little (3 months) cat, red cat, sweet.. .. He's name is Chupa (don't know if I'll change it), and he seems to like expecially quilts.. As he saw my quilt on the sofa, he decided to sleep on it, and not on the pillow I prepared for him. And so I have a new inspector!!!

Ciao Nicoletta!!!

Cotton setting on the iron will do perfectly.

Yippee! :) Have you seen my two ginger kitties? They have a page on my web site. They are now eight years old! Don't look or behave like dignified adults, mind... ;)

Wonderful news! isn't it nice that this QI doesn't need any training? :-D

good luck with the steam a seam - I only use vlisofix so can't help you with it.

Yess, Chupa is so sweet, and he is a lady-killer... I already love him. And how can I do else, if he likes quilts?

Jess.. excuse me, this is a news for me.. what's vlisofix?

ps... Cornflake and Sugar are very nice, and beautiful...

ciaooo nico

Vlisofix is a kind of steam a seam 2 but then locally available for me - light weight and can be bought by the meter.

I have used some Steam a Seam 2, and I found it excellent.

I do remember you lost your black kitty. How lovely that you have a new friend. So, he is a quilt lover, too; and he knows his own mind!! I think ginger cats have a special personality. Good to hear from you again. . In message , pomodoro writes

I don't much like doing fusible projects, but I use Steam a Seam Lite

2; which my LQS recommends and carries. Way easier to work with than the others I've tried, but my experience is pretty limited.

Bit like Boondaweb Wunder Under: sheet glue for fabric, on a paper backing.

Thank you. We love them dearly, even when they are naughty!

So sorry about your black kitty. Having nearly lost our Katie Mae twice this week, I can completely understand. But your Chupa sounds like a fabulous QI.

Another little little kitten - and all good Trainee Quilt Inspectors!. Do we have to give them a Certificate when they qualify!

Do they have to sit an exam or is is d>hii to all..

Congratulations on your new QI. I would love to see photos. He sounds like he knows what his job is already. I like his name. In the US "Chupa" is the name of a Lollipop (candy on a stick). Does it mean something in Spanish? Linda in Tx

yess... a Certificate!! great idea!! I think Chupa is a strict QI.. he looked near, really near the quilt, he seemed to look for mistakes.. uhm... I learned that to mean "red cat" I have to say "ginger cat"... thanks everybody.. Well in my dialect we say: "Pei russ, cattiva lana"... in italian: "pelo rosso, cattiva lana" and in english: "ginger hair, bad wool"... and we mean to say those cats (or persons) who have red (ginger) hair, usually have not a good natured... Instead, this kitty is so sweet, we will see when he'll grow up.. :)

Thanks for answers in "steam a seam", I'll try.. and then I let you know how I find it.. ciaoo nico

I *love* steam a seam 2. It does what it says, sticks the applique on and you do not need to stitch the edges. I made an applique on Rocky's little baby clothes, both the applique and onesie were knit fabrics. It has been in the wash many, many times and it still looks great. No fraying.

I just use regular cotton setting on the iron.

Well, I've had four ginger/ginger and white kitties, and they have all been as sweet as pie! Cornflake, while so brainless he makes porridge look bright, is the world's most affectionate cat, and mugs for cuddles. He'll nag for a lap! Sugar Puff is a little more aloof at times, but makes her presence felt when in need of a snuggle.

In the UK red-headed folk have the reputation of having fiery tempers! My granny was like that: quick to rouse but also quick to laugh. I'm a bit that way myself.

that's ritht Nana!!! Chupa chups are lollypops.. they are known everywhere, I suppose..

Chupa has this name because he licks your fingers if you cuddle him. But we don't know yet if we'll change or not this name.... Maybe not.. it's nice. ciaooo :0) nico

I'm glad you have a new QI friend! They do add so much to the quilting process! ;) It sounds as if he will take his work very seriously, so you had better do your best! chipper
