Thanks Kathyl. They are all FPP actually, so not a dreadful amount of work, once I got into the swing of it. (25 pieces in each spiral). I'm glad you agree that the quilting will be almost irrelevant! . In message , KJ writes

Thanks Debbie. Totally new designs for me; and the idea for the two sizes came out of the blue! . In message , ***Debbie*** writes

Thanks Sandy. It's nice to know I *can* do colourful! As to the double-siding, I have no real idea! All the blocks are 8" and the borders are 3; so, theoretically they should match up OK. I think I will use my tack gun, though; after I have pinned every intersection. Apart from that, I don't know. It'll be 'learning on the job' >g< (Again)! It's all keeping my mind busy! . Well as Rita has said that she loves the back I don't mind admiting that I prefer the front :-) Both sides are beautiful and bright. It is very hard to move outside ones comfort zone.

Well, after the first, agreed pattern had to be abandoned, I planned out the back. Then I decided I'd do a 'proper' front after all >g< I will wait for a couple of days before I start putting them together! Should be done by the weekend. Then on to the minimal quilting. . Thanks very much Sharon. Which cat was it that you specially liked? If the kitten, she is being spayed tomorrow (just had her last meal, poor little thing). . In message , Sharon writes

Thanks very much Amy. I love the idea of having the frames and the borders in the same fabric. I think it was someone on here who showed a picture having done that? I wish I could remember. However, it was filed away in the better part of my brain (the quilty side! it retains things much longer than anywhere else >gI love BOTH sides!!! The spirals float sorta! and i am a fan of B&W.

Oh WOW!!! When you step out of your 'comfort zone' you don't mess around. VBG I am so proud of you to jump in with both feet and just do it! Both sides are gorgeous and the challenge of a double sided quilt- well, just WOW. I love the two different sizes and the setting is amazing and the blacks and whites with the strong colors is very exciting. I know you have a winner there- and the mommy and baby will both be awed, thrilled and feel very special and honored with this masterpiece you have designed and made to celebrate this very special and dear child. Way to go, Sis!

Very cool, Pat! Very cool!! The spirals look like a variation of Virginia Reel, so of course I approve of that. I think the lucky baby will enjoy both sides of this lively quilt. PAT in VA/USA

Glad you approve, PAT!! Thanks. The spirals are, indeed, very similar. The main difference is that by not having the four patch in the centre, the block can be done as a single piece of foundation piecing.
