I learn things daily on this group. Most of it I just file it away for future reference and hope to remember it when I need it. However, a couple of weeks ago, the topic of birthing quilts came up, and I paid close attention, even going to Easymade.com and watching the ever-so-helpful video.
My brother has just had his first child (well, his SO did, but you know what I mean.) Although she'd been pregnant for the usual amount of time, I only started thinking "baby quilt" the day he called to say the child had been born. I ran to my LQS and bought some colourful FQ's and I was off.
I set a new personal best... day one saw the top pieced, minus the borders. Day two had the borders on, the quilt "birthed" and the quilting completed... day three only needed 30 minutes of hand finishing the open seam and a couple of hours of test snuggling. The quilt is beautiful and finished quickly, and I have to thank you all for the idea!
(The quickness of this project just amazes me. I bought fabric in
1999 before my wedding to make a queen-sized quilt to grace our bed. I finished this quilt two weeks ago... two years after the divorce! I'm glad the quilt never saw our marriage bed... it might have been tainted somehow.)Susan in Canada Kingston, Ontario
