Darn, I won't be able to make it again this year -- younger daughter's boyfriend has planned her 30th birthday party for that weekend -- in Pittsburgh, PA.
To all of you who are going, have fun, take pictures and shop for me!
I'm so sad. I was looking forward to meeting you. Maybe on one of my many trips to Houston, the grandbabies will let me go long enough for you to show me your favorite places to look at quilting stuff. Have fun at the party! BJ in GA
In my best whiny boy voice (I've had experience with this): OH, MAAAAAAAAN!
So there's good news and bad news: You won't be at the Really Big Quilt Show in Houston, but you did get invited to the birthday party in PA. Sure, go ahead, Eliz, be that way: just take off and leave us all by ourselves at the quilt show (w/ 50,000 other quilters); we're not gonna' share the chocolate, tho'; I may just eat your portion before I leave home! So there!
Okay, so you were a mom before you knew this ng; you're allowed this pass.
*sigh* Anything in particular you want us to look for, for you, at the show?
Ragmop/Sandy--missing my fellow Party Member this year but I know where she lives: STASH RAID!!!!!!!! *snort*
Geez Elizabeth, I'm having the disaster month of my life and even I'm still going! LOL
Don't know if I'm going to be able to work any of the days I am scheduled, I suppose I can still be a greeter and such but don't think I'll get to hang quilts this year.
As if to add insult to previous injury, now I have pulled out my shoulder and torn my rotator cuff tendon. Even after having a 5 inch long needle injected into my shoulder with cortisone, I STILL can't use my right arm!!!! Whaaaaaa. This is really inconvenient when you are right handed. I get to have another injection next week and wait for all the inflammation to go down before they make a decision about surgically repairing the tendon. Oh joy!
Oh well, just means I will have to get someone to carry my purchases for me! Right?
I was really looking forward to the Saturday meet and greet this year. I am hoping that the boy friend has arranged a suitable surprise for her 30th birthday (the party isn't it; she knows about it) but I'm not sure he's really that savvy. She told me last week that she is only giving this relationship a little more time before she tells him to pony up to the altar or take the hike. She called her sister today to tell her that her last single best buddy called to tell her he is getting married in Houston in February and he wants her to be there for the wedding; everyone else is married and having babies and she WANTS babies in a really big way. So, here's hoping that the birthday is all she is hoping for. Otherwise, we might be helping her pack her suitcases to come home for a while.
You take care of your shoulder; tell your family I said hello.
I was really looking forward to it too -- as I told Tina below, I am hoping that the invitation means the boyfriend has planned his own really big show, although I have my doubts.
If you would happen to see some fat quarters that would make good river rocks, I would be glad to pay for your shopping services.
And, of course, I am hoping for a good broom come November 7.
Bummer.... tell the boyfriend next time he'd best dbl check if he is overbooking you lol Will miss you! Say hi! to Pittsburgh for me. It has been way too long since i've made it up there to visit family :(
DH had offered to take me, until we checked our number of days away from Canada. We can't head south until 1 November this year :-( Ontario limits the number of days out of the country, and going over causes the loss of medical coverage! Maybe next year.....
-- Susan in Kingston ON trying to get all the fall projects completed before heading south for the winter....
Last time we took 4 days to drive to Houston, and the roads were in terrible shape the last day and a half! That would only leave one day of the show. I think I'll wait and plan to be there for the length of the show next year. The last time we didn't see much of the area while there, and would like to do some more sight seeing.
