Okay. So here I am weeding things out/simplifying. Gifting out yarn and fabric, patterns and such.
This weekend was the Central Coast Quilt Shop Tour. I had planned on going to a few shops. Thursday that all changed when I got word that my friend's husband was suddenly hospitalized with a "saddle pulmonary embolism" and was lucky to be alive - he is 43. They own The Creation Station, one of the shops on the tour, and 100 miles from me. So I called and offered my assistance for the weekend. Dawn told me Patrick was critical, but they had enough help and would keep me in mind. Stayed home yesterday to watch the Belmont Stakes. Called and said I was coming up today. Stopped to see Patrick in the hospital - they decided to release him and wanted to know if I was going to take him home. Except he had no clothes. And Dawn was already on her way from
50 miles further up the road [the hospital was the closest one with a Critical Care unit]. Got Dawn and Patrick settled, Headed the rest of the way to Buellton. Met up with my buddies the rest of the shop staff there, got my hugs and tears from Dawn's folks. Ooohed and aahed over the challenge quilts done for the tour, got to meet Amy Bradley [yes, she of Quilting Diva fame] who flew out from Kansas as a special guest of their shop. Giggled, put my name in for the drawing on the daily basket, voted for my choice in the challenge. The theme for the shop this year was "super Heroes" One gal was Him Gauge, one Bat-woman and her daughter Bobbin, Feed Dog, Patrick was to be Purple Thang, G- Force, Dawn's Mom was Knit-Wit, Dad was Super Dad, Man of Spiel. Picked out a few pieces of fabric - fell in love with Quilter's Choice Marbles.
I got a call about an hour ago that my name was drawn for the daily basket - a 2'x2' basket stuffed with notions, patterns, fabric and books. Oh, my!!!!
Proves the saying, what goes around, comes around.
Ginger in CA still stunned to hear this win!
