LOL!! Maybe not. Maybe the new company will make Hershey a better chocolate.

Scharffen Berger swears up and down that nothing will change. A group of friends and I were touring their factory last month right after the purchase, and they are planning on keeping the same people, same factory, same everything.

Sure, that can all change next week, but sometimes a company really will buy another company that sells a premium product and leave it alone. I know when Sherwin Williams bought Pratt & Lambert paints about 10 years ago, all the P&L dealers were very nervous. But SW really did leave the products alone. Amazing.

Well good, that will save me having to go over to Trader Joe's and buy all the sharffenberger

Dr Not being a big chocolate fan (I can hear the collective "gasp" now....)

- I have no idea what this means to the chocolate world. However, being ridiculously addicted to coffee, I think I can "relate" to your horror - last year when Starbucks bought Seattle's Best Coffee. They swore they wouldn't "change" a thing - which they haven't as far as bean roasting - however, the SBC kiosks that were stragically placed throughout downtown Seattle have virtually disappeared...... (sigh) - I'm now "rooting" for Tullys to hang in there.............

It's worse than you think. Nestle bought Hershey and changed the Hershey chocolate formula. A real Hershey bar would snap into pieces at the divisions, now they all bend instead. They taste like Nestle chocolate now too. I no longer buy any Nestle or Hershey Chocolate Co. candies. I need a good place to buy decent chocolate. If I drive an hour I can get to somewhere that I could buy Godiva, but the chocolate there is so old it has turned white. Yech.

Godiva will ship their chocolate and they promise it will arrive in perfect condition (they pack it in "climate controlled packaging")

With the cost of gas, an hour drive is about the same as shipping.

You all need to learn to make your own confections. I get my chocolate shipped, then transform it into delectible delights for my family and close friends. The stash is heavily guarded, tho. Be warned! No, not the fabric stash.... the Chocolate Stash!

Unless the weather cools down soon, it may still be too hot for chocolate making. However, the shop that provided the last round of goodies is still here. ;-)

I bought gas yesterday at $2.439 at Wal-mart/Murphy Oil and today it is $2.66!! What a difference a storm can make, eh?

Thank goodness. I adore Hershey but don't care for Nestles at all.
