NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO -- I think that Leah Remini would make the perfect SP, with Antonio Sabato Jr as Ranger, Chris Noth as Joe, Mo'nique as Lula, Doris Roberts as Mrs. Plum, The dad from Everyone loves Raymond to be Mr. Plum, Kathy Griffin (is that her last name? The red headed comediane) as Joyce Barnhardt, Steve Valentine as Sally Sweet, Estelle Getty (sp?) as Grandma Masur.

I also would have loved, but it is no longer possible -- too aged to still fit the roles now -- to have Rhea Perlman in her Carla from Cheers days play Connie and the guy that played her husband Nick to play Vinnie.

Can ya tell I've thought a lot about this??? RW just doesn't fit the image of SP I have in my head, it has the potential to ruin the movie for me......damn.

Yeah, Tricia, I've been puzzled by the choice of RW, much as I like her talent. The thing is, you have to let go of the image of RW in 'Legally Blonde.' Since seeing her excellent portrayal of June Cash in 'Walk the Line' I am slowly coming around to RW as Stephanie. I think she has more depth as an actress than we've credited her. On draw back is that she comes across as so Southern, and SP is so New Jersey. Whoo ... I agree so much with Estelle Getty as Grandma, but I thought she passed away last year. (?) I would cast Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty Forman on 'That 70s Show!') as Mrs. Plum. Another choice would be Rhea Perlman, with Danny DeVito as Vinny. For Lula I'd been considering Queen Latifah. I'm not sure I can ID Monique. I keep thinking Jimmy Smit for Ranger, but he's too old. What about Valerie and her Husband? What about Tank? BTW: there are two new characters in "12" but I don't want to spoil your surprise!! Gee, we are getting into this ... is there a SP/JE news group?? LOL!!

Me too, though I'm also impressed with her ability after "Walk the Line".

So maybe she'll take speech lessons?

Ooooh! She'd be perfect!

How about that wonderful guy who played in the Green Mile and whose name escapes me at the moment? The one who was executed? He was huge and very talented.

I haven't read #12 yet, but I hope to soon. I love SP!

I haven't embraced any othe JE books yet though. I bought one that wasn't a SP novel and must have started and re-started it three times before just putting it away. It didn't keep my attention. I can't even remember the name of it...I think the cover was pink with a car on it?? KJ

Ya know...when I first read RW's name, I was actually picturing Renee Zelwegger (sp?). But I still don't know exactly about RW -- although I like her better for it than RZ. I think they would have to plump her a little --- SP doesn't seem like a skinny minny thing to me...I have always thought she had some substance to her but not fat.

I just saw a comedy special with Mo'nique in it last night -- she kept mentioning that she was in the Parkers. (Big African American woman with attitude and a mouth -- perfect for Lula) I have considered QL as well, but to me, she seems too pretty to have been a 'Ho and I believe to quote Lula, "not a very good one at that" I had also (until seeing Mo'nique last night) had as my top runner up for Lula's role the woman from the Post Cereal Commericials who says "It's like a mouth full of joy" at the end of one of them where they are talking about liking to make and eat some particular cereal (name escapes me -- hunny bunches of oats, maybe?)

I didn't remember heraing about EG passing away. Bummer!

As for who else I would cast....I have thougth of Vin Diseal as Tank every since I saw The Pacifier. I can't for the life of me think who to play Valerie and Kloughn. I probably would have eventually been okay with RW as Valerie if she went and got a Meg Ryan haircut (or wig) more than as SP.

My concern with DeVito as Vinny is Vinny is supposed to be a skinny slimy sleek dude....and DeVito can play slimy and sleek but I don't know if he coud get tall and skinny. DH and I had debated that one out and decided against DD for that role. I doubt most people paid that close attention to the physical description given of Vinny so DeVito might be able to get away with it.

hmm.....2 new characters?!?!?!? Ack! I'm only person 10 on the list right now and there are approx. 15 copies in teh system so I should be able to get it soon. I'm really concerend though..one of the libraries has it on cassette -- at only 3.5 hours and it doesn't indicate an abridged version -- how many pages is the book?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Aw heck -- if she can lose the english accent, RZ in a Meg Ryan wig would be PERFECT for Valerie. Kloughn is harder to determine though. As are the other cops that SP has known for years....although I guess those could be bit players so to speak. It's a shame the kid who plays Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter movies is so young -- age him about

8-10 years and I could see him doing an Albert.

Oh, and the main reason ASJr gets my vote for Ranger is becuase of the killer smile he's got.

Howdy!

Stephanie's got more bosom that does Ms.Bullock. Scarlett Johansson has the spunk and the ability to play someone who can laugh at herself and bounce back. She can also "do" brunette & full-figured woman.

The first 3 or 4 books in the series were the best, IMO. Following those the plots seem to repeat and repeat and regurgitate. But that Grndma Mazur--Love her! ;-P

Ragmop/Sandy --no quilts were harmed during the writing of this post because quilts do not live in Stephanie's cars which have a tendency to burn

And apparently JE is writing a book on how to write. I think the website says that it comes out in November.

All I know is that I am now #9 out of a-hundred-and-something to get the library book. Our library system has 46 copies, and it looks like I might get it around July 21.

I think it was somebody in this group that got me hooked on the adventures of Ms. Plum. Thank you!

Didn't she read a couple of the audio books? She has the perfect accent...or fakes it well. I think she was on a short lived sit com that had some SP similarities. Or perhaps I was reading the books at the time the show was on and I made the connection. I've only seen Scarlett Johnasson in two movies where she was quiet and reserved...not at all a Stephanie type. Reese Witherspoon is too small. I see SP with some meat on her bones but with a good figure....not as buxom as Scarlett. Heck, she'd never get away from Joe and Ranger with Scarlett's rack! OK, it's late...I'm getting punchy. KJ

I always hate it when I finish one, even though I hardly put it down after I start it. It's just too long before the next one! KJ

I put this book on hold yesterday and I am #152 on the waiting list. There are 35 copies in our library system. Wadda ya think? Maybe by the end of the year I should get mine. :-) It is quite sad that we have to wait so long for the book, read it in a day and a half and then have to wait at least another year for the next installment! Not fair!!!!!!!

So what about Jennifer Garner as Stephanie? She is a younger version of Sandra Bullock (who I think totally fits the part!). Not sure about her, um, breasties. Don't know how they would fit in......

A lurker popping up here..... My choice for Ranger would be Antonio Bandaras. Woo! Remember him in Zorro? Ranger all the way. Love that character. C.J Critt narrated all the audiobooks except one. She is a great Stephanie, a perfect Grandma Mazur and believe it or not, a pretty sexy Ranger and not half bad Joe. I love these stories!! Just finished #10 audio. Can't wait for the library to get #11!
