Congrats Steve! I think that's pretty good record. So far, I haven't made anything I would feel good about entering in our local quilt show or fair. I thought I would this year, but maybe next year I'll get there. I'm really looking forward to seeing the photos of your quilt. Shakespeare and flowers..... that sounds gorgeous. I really like your designs. Ever think of publishing your designs as patterns?? Just a thought.

Even after entering this many quilts I still get nervous. You are putting yourself out there, but what the heck. I do enjoy the feedback that the judges have started to provide the last couple of entries.

I've sort of thought of venturing into the realm of patterns. I've got a few projects this winter that I am going to make and I think that I will take pictures and write directions as I go along. I'm really worried about the directions aspect though. Haven't we all encountered a pattern at one time or another that we'd rather use as TP paper and I'm not very confident with my writing. I definitely have to find someone to edit for me. I can still try and see what others think before I would ever offer anything for sale. That would be a fun to do in retirement.

Well done Steven. It's a beautiful quilt. I'm glad it got recognition. Great tally so far! It's not 'bragging', it's 'passing on news of a fellow quilter's success' - and that's always OK!

Don't worry about directions at this stage, Steven. Many of us here have done pattern testing and, if you asked for the tester to take particular note of whether the directions are easy to follow, you will get helpful answers and need worry no more. You could also try magazines, instead of the 'publish your own and sell them' route. You just have to check to see which would be happy to take them. Once you are 'working' with a magazine, you could have great fun. Their editors will also help, if need be; but a tested pattern will always be popular.

If you ask for volunteers, you can then e-mail the patterns - so, no great postage issues.
