Using "favorite" fabric

I just used the very last scrap of one of my favorite fabrics, a dog print from Laurel Burch. I decided I would get more, because I love it so much. After searching 54 pages on quiltshops.com, there was nary a dog print to be found - I'm so bummed! There were plenty of other animals, and tons of blenders, but...... no dogs. I think her fabric lines must come and go quickly. If anyone sees any Laurel Burch dog print fabric while you're surfing around out there, can you give me a "heads up"? TIA.

Patti, I would explain the economics of this if I knew anything about it - but you *do* realize that quiltshops.com only represents *some* online stores. There are a gazillion others who are not affiliated. So. Therefore. Go to your search engine, is that what it's called? My personal favorite is WebCrawler because it has always given me what I'm hunting without assaulting my delicate sensibilities with blasting ads and useless junk. I typed in ' Laurel Burch quilt dog fabric' and got 94 suggestions. One of them might be just what you're yearning for. The first one up was the Cotton-Picking Place. A new one (to me) but might be just the one. Polly

Thanks Butterfly, I'll do that. In my quest, I have found out the fabric line is "retired"... so, I'm not holding my breath.

Thank you, Polly. I usually use Google, but I'll try yours. Google brought up a bunch of stuff on Ebay, which I've never used, and don't care to try at this time. I'll try your method, I may get lucky!

Thanks Sandy...... I'll take a look at your links and see if it's what I'm looking for. The one I "really" want has a deep, black background and smallish (1" to 2.5") brightly colord dogs and dots, and a little metallic. This will teach me. Next time I *love* a fabric, buy LOTS!

I was all set to suggest eBay, but I see you don't want to do that. Best of luck!

I did notice that there's a Laurel Burch cat-fabrics line coming out this fall. I don't know if they're new, or repeats.

Hi Patti, this is the link for my search on Google Australia. When you do your search in

I can make a choice to search Australian sites first and the UK is probably the same....our UK friends would be able to set me straight on that. So this link is the Aussie sites that are carrying Laurel Burch fabrics. Here's hoping that someone has a bolt of it tucked away somewhere.

Hi Butterfly Well, for some reason, every time I clicked on "check out", I'd get a little pop-up window that said "requested information cannot be found" - huh? What's that mean? Tried half a dozen times, and failed. But! I noticed at the bottom of their page, they accept orders by phone, so tomorrow morning, FIRST thing, I shall call and order 4 yards - no - make that 5! :-)

There are ways to exclude ebay in your search. One of them is to add

-ebay the same way you would add +something to get more specific results from a search.

Example: I want to look for cat prints without ebay listings so I type the following in the search box: cat fabric -ebay

Or, I know the name of the print so type: fabric "Cat Snacks" -ebay Debra in VA See my quilts at

yup, there is google.co.uk, if you don't select uk sites only the result s are different to what google.com gives, I'm not quite sure what algorithm they use, bizarrely, I've been known to be unable to find a US based site from google.com for it to be near the to on google.co.uk. I wish google.com had a restrict to US sites, as a couple of thing I've been looking to mailorder recently came up with a mix of UK and US sites when I only wanted US ones.

I thought you said you wanted a lot of this fabric so you would be sick of it by the time you run out of it. I don't call 4 or 5 yds a lot. I just call that "some fabric". "A lot of fabric" starts at 10 yds and could be as much as a whole bolt.

Well, Debra, after sleeping on it all night, I ordered 6 yards. I don't think I've ever bought 6 yards of ANYTHING! Well, maybe once, about a gazillion years ago when I made my own Prom dress... lol. This will give me enough for a couple projects I have in mind, and some left over to fondle and love until one of my mutts needs a fancy, new "nap pad"......
