well my sm is back, but it's not fixed. sigh

I still say the same thing Musicmaker: Put the outline complaint in a letter, and what you want the outcome to be. Put the details on a separate, attached sheet, for the best result. . In message , Musicmaker writes

In November 2007 I purchased a Quest at the Chicago quilt show from Fabricsetc2.

It was shipped in time for Christmas when my husband wrapped it and I waited to open it. Eleimiante this--they reallt won't care when you opened it.

I I drove to the shop (3.5 hrs away) Again, they don't care how far you drive.

In September 2008, the next step was to try a different Baby Lock Dealer. I took it to Stitch and Sew in Arthur IL, a small town only about 45 minutes from home. Same thing---leave out the distances and drive time.

I agree with Patti. It goes to two pages and their first reaction will be 'too long for important person to read, hand over to someone further down the chain'.

Personally I would do a more formal covering letter as Patti suggests and another sheet of all the details attached, with a heading at the top of what it is, and possibly your name and address at the end just in case it gets separated from the main letter. Perhaps the detail sheet could have the points numbered for ease of reading (also looks professional!). The idea of a sheet of photos is good.

I would keep the whole thing as formal as possible, so the person reading it will first of all read 'what it is all about', and then turn over to a detailed, easy to read sheet. Also in the letter I would include the information that you are have considerable quilting experience fairly near the beginning to establish that you do know what you are talking about.

As everyone has said, only send copies of receipts etc., and make sure that you have kept copies of everything you send and that every posted item is registered/recorded delivery or whatever.

Good luck.

Oh, just another thing I've just noticed - you say Kathy told you a couple of things you didn't know. I would omit the 'I didn't know', just say that she suggested a couple of things which you tried.

Are you certain you want a replacement and not a refund? Your last para only gives the one option.
