wool batting - Texas?

DH and I took a class today with Elsie Campbell on hand quilting. We used Hobbs wool batting. Anyone in North Texas know of a store that carries it? If not, anyone know of a reputable online store who carries it? I have tried Quilt Country in Lewisville (where we took our class), Cabbage Rose in Fort Worth and Peachtree Quilts here in Weatherford. It worked really well for hand quilting and my stitches came out even and small!

NAYY, but I remembered when I took a class from Harriet Hargrave earlier this year that she sells wool batting. Here is her website:

I wouldn't haveany problem ordering from her - she has a great reputation & I'm sure wouldnot do anything to jeopardize it.-- Pauline Northern California

which is located in Waco, TX If you are a consumer looking for your favorite Hobbs products we recommend calling your favorite quilt shop, craft store or fabric retailer and ask for it by name. If they do not stock what you are looking for, ask them to order it for you. If you are unable to find Hobbs products locally, you may order from various mail order resources or give us a call at (254) 741-0040 and ask for the customer service department. It is our desire to provide quilters with the best products available. Thank you for selecting Hobbs!

If you liked Hobbs, try to find the "original" wool batting from Australia - Nu-Wool or Matilda's Own. Both fabulous to work with and all we ever use here. I know Hancock's used to have Matilda's at least. You can get them in dark grey too.

I've used Matilda's Own wool batting and it was wonderful. I ordered it on line from King's Men Quilting Supply. They have the best prices I found anywhere and very good customer service.

I have no connection with King's Men other than being a very satisfied customer.

I don't know if you have one nearby, but I found this batting at Hobby Lobby. I believe they have a store locator at their website,

Howdy!

Kathleen, I've checked w/ a couple of stores including Lonestar in Arlington with no luck on the wool batt. Emailed Hobbs : snipped-for-privacy@HobbsBondedFibers.com and asked who carries it (buys it from them) in the Ft.Worth Metroplex; they'll get around to replying, they always do, in a few days. Meanwhile, here are some of the other lqs that you could contact:

Funny that Quilt Country didn't check w/ the teacher to see what products she'd be recommending, but they carry the Q.D. batt... .

Have you used the Hobbs Heirloom for handquilting?

Hobbs--it's from Texas, you know. LOL And while you're in Waco check out the Dr.Pepper plant & museum. Road trip!!
