A very disappointing shopping trip

Yesterday I had to go to the bank, so I thought I'd walk to the mall and see what I could come up with in Target's scrapbooking section to get me started on my christmas cards - the short answer was nothing! Their scrapbook section was decimated, and it looks to me like they're getting rid of it entirely! They used to sell nice cheap coloured papers in the printer aisle too, and they don't have them any more either? I really needed a xyron refill and they had an empty rack, and they didn't have any other kind of usable adhesive either. I was so disappointed! Walmart doesn't have very much in the scrapbooking line any more either, and Office Works used to sell bulk paper for scrapbooking but they got rid of it a year ago. So it looks to me like the 'cheap scrapbooking' phase has come and gone, and the only place I have left to get stuff is Joanns or our LSS, which is anything BUT cheap.

Does your Target still sell scrapbooking supplies? Or are they phasing them out? Where do you get cheap basic supplies in a bricks-and-mortar building? Can you get them at all?

Ours not only has a whole aisle devoted to supplies, but when you first enter the store, they have a $1 section that usually has seasonal scrapping supplies like brads, stickers, small blank albums, etc.

Sorry to hear yours is phasing out! :0(

Hi Karen.

Sorry to hear you had nothing to choose from at Target. I heard they were clearancing a lot of their product to make room for new product. I will keep my fingers crossed for ya that is what your Target is doing!!

I was in our on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week and noticed the same thing. decimated was a good word choice-that fit our aisle too! I've been looking because about a month ago I noticed they were starting to clearance out their Sizzix stuff and I'm always on the hunt for those long strips for the sidekick. Well, by the looks of it, they've clearanced almost the entire aisle out. I sure hope they are getting new stuff. I've been waiting to see if they would get in the new Ellison things. So far, nada. Hopefully this isn't the end. Was just in Wal-mart two weeks ago, and they still have a great selection. so far, so good there. Kathy

Hmmm....I may have to check our Target next week. I haven't been there in ages, but last time I was there, they had a decent scrapping area.

On all my recent travels, the several Targets I visited I noticed much smaller selections. I have a new super Target about 1 mile away that was pretty thin when April wa last here. K-Marts too I think are stopping their stuff too from the 2 or 3 I was in. The nearest one to me is 30 miles away. WalMart everywhere has the SAME stuff. went and checked out the newest one here in the Metro today that just opened last week. It has the same ole stuff and no Duck tape.

So that leaves here mainly Michaels and Hobby Lobby. We have a really yucky cheap small Joann's. Hancock Fabrics has some stuff as well as many other stores, like dollar stores. So just look around and you may be surprised what you find where.

I though do like to 'help' out the lss' when I can as the small business in today's society has so many obstacles to overcome!!
