Altered Paint Cans

Hi everyone.....I am interested in trying the altered paint cans but I'm having a hard time finding a template or some direction with the size. I have the cans and have measured it out but was unsure on how to get around the handle holder. Any ideas?

Thank you all!

you cut a cirlce out.. or use a punch..( where the handle is attached to the can.. you cut a circle approx that size) then cut from the center of that circle up to the top of the paper.. that way it can be slipped over the handle.. HTH

Mindi {{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}} Long time no see! Have you been lurking all this time! How have you been doing?

Yes, I've been "lurking" for a little while now. I have had a very busy year with my daughter's wedding, my 25th wedding anniversary and teaching winter guard, marching band and drum corps in the summer. Whew....I'm now ready to get back to some normalcy and start scrapping again!

I've missed this group but just didn't have the spare time, but I do now!!!

Thanks

Hmmm I've always called you Mindi, Lisa is this like the Ronnie/Jean thing? Should I call you Lisa now? Whether you're Mindi or Lisa, it's been a while and I've missed you! Glad you have more time to yourself!

Sorry to hear about your son Mindi. Pardon the ignorance, but what is "strep". We must be calling it something different over here. Hope he feels better soon :)

Oh Mindi! I sure do hope that now that they know what is wrong that he will get better quickly. But I thought strep was in the throat? How did that shut down his muscles? That sounds so painful! Please let us know hoe he does. Meanwhile, I'll add him to my prayers!

BTW I am glad that you are you and Lisa is Lisa though maybe Lisa is nicknamed Mindi???

strep isnt what shut him down.. its what he just caught the day he went back to school..

some mean virus is what shut his muscles down.. which is why he couldnt be treated.. you can not treat a virus.. must let it run its course.. like the flu..

Thanks for clarifying.

After last year's flu I lost most of my senses of smell and taste (for a long while everything smelled and tasted like rotting food or like I told Kenda and company, garbage). 12 months later I am starting to taste most things and smell some.

Oh Mindi! I'm glad the virus worked itself out, but I'm so sorry he had to go through all that. Hope he gets to feeling better soon!

Well Lisa, this probably won't be much help, but I just did a paint can and I removed the "bulge" where the handle goes and just covered over it. Dh figured out that it just pops right off the can and so that's what I did. Of course then it doesn't have a handle, but that's what I did. Now, on another can I received from someone else, she used a circle cutter and cut hers out and then cut a smaller circle of the same paper to put on the "raised" portion... Not sure if I'm describing it right or not, but anyway... And she decorated the handle with tons of little pieces of ribbon tied into knots around the handle... It's really cute :)

Thanks for the suggestion and I will give that a try. I may want some with a handle and some without. I'm not very good with an exacto knife, so I'm hoping the circle cutter will work for me.

Thanks again...
