CKU Review - Long

I had great time at CKU. It was three fun filled days of scrapping. The first day was product demonstrations. Each company had a table where we made

6 x 6 album pages. I ended up with about 24 pages and I think there were about 5 or 6 tables that I didn't have time to get to. That night there was a crop and they had tons of give aways (I didn't win anything :-( )

On Friday I had an album track. The album is called "The Story of Us" and was sponsored by Rusty Pickle. Lance, the owner of Rusty Pickle is so much fun. He tells the greatest stories. We did the entire album during the class (8:3-5:00) except for pictures and journaling. I also have a few more embellishments to add. As soon as I get a chance, I'll post pictures. There was also a crop this night with more give aways.

On Saturday I had classes. The best by far was the painting techniques class taught by Tim Holtz. If you ever have a chance to take a class from him don't pass it up. They are expensive (at least the ones he teaches in the LA area) but well worth it. He is amazing and has the best personality. The best tip from the class was to use a non stick craft sheet by Ranger. (Michaels has a similar one I noticed today.) Anyway nothing sticks to it. You can wipe it clean with a dry paper towel.

I also loved the class taught by Amy and Kellie from Bazzill. We did four pages in 90 minutes and came away with a kit for another one. There was a Disney album class by Reminisce which is so cute. I just need to find some pictures for it and a chipboard album class from Fancy Paints. I also took a stamping technique class taught by the editor of Paper Crafts which was ok, but not one of my favorites.

I would highly recommend attending a CKU. I came home with a trunk full of goodies, met some really nice people, and had a wonderful time.

Wow! You got a lot accomplished in those three days. Thanks for posting. I was a teacher's assistant at the CKU-Houton event last year. I actually helped with the ranger class. Unfortunately Tim was avaiable to teach but the girls from Ranger did a fantastic job. For helping they actually gave me one of the used non-stick sheets. I don't know how I scrapped/stamped before it. What kind of projects did you complete in Tim's paint class? Just curious.

I can not wait to see your projects you completed! Please do share when you have time.

We used the new dabber paints and made a tag book with five different techniques. We got 4 bottles of paint and I ended up buying about 6 more. They are so fun to use and you can do lots of different things with them.

You can use it to paint on, glue on, heat emboss or many other things instead of right on your table, nothing sticks to it. The one thing I want to try is using it with stickers. You can line up your letter stickers so they are straight and then roll it so part of the sticker is exposed and then attach them to your page so they are perfectly straight. The paint just wipes right off with a dry paper towel. I think it is like the Silpat mats that you can use for baking. It looks like the same thing.

Sounds like a very cool class. In the class I were in we used the achohol inks and the distressing ink pads. I found I learned alot about the inks and now I use them much more than I use to.
