decoupage

hi all!! sorry i haven't really been around for a few weeks. DD is getting ready to go to her first girl scout camp.. anyway, i had an idea, but i need some help. does anyone know how to decoupage a picture to a paper covered breakfast tray. do i just put it on and mod-podge over it or will it ruin the pic?? thanks in advance, Anji

Unless you have one of the new pigment based inkjet printer the mod-podge would be a problem. You could of course color photocopy the photo and that would take care of bleeding ink. If it is a real chemically done photo then you should be ok with mod-podge. I would still use a copy just to be on the safe side. Test it out on the photo alone first and make sure there isn't any problems. There shouldn't be. Well, except the thickness. The advantage to using a photocopy (toner doesn't bleed or fade easily and it is water proof) is that it will be on thin paper. A photographic print is on thicker paper and so that could be a problem, you could end up with a lip around it.
