Explosion Box completed

Hi folks...I have just uploaded pics of my Explosion Box and you can see it here:

This was the second one I have done but the other isn't decorated as it was sort of my prototype. I didn't feel that it was firm enough so I will perhaps decorate it for my GD, using fairy decoupage and stuff.

That's awesome...I love the colors. I'm going to try my hand at this next weekend. DH will be out of town, so I'll have some free time. TFS!

Thanks Amanda :o) They are pretty easy.....just make sure you use heavy weight paper/cardstock. Marilyn

Way to go Marilyn on doing such a great job and being the first to complete the May Challenge! The box is just awesome. I really do intend to get one done this month! Can I ask how long did it take you to make this one and probably a better question, to make the first one?

To make the Explosion Box doesn't take too long but I actually cut everything to start with....then assembled using my fav. wet glue. :o) Dry glue would speed things up but I never feel it is strong enough LOL Remember...to make it sturdy I used a reasonable weight a/f cardstock then wallpapered each piece using my double sided patterned paper. To cut out, wallpaper and assemble probably took me around an hour the second time. I also changed the lid a little and had a few attempts to get it just right.

Deciding what I was going to put on it took me longer than the actual making...LOL I knew what photos I wanted to use but had to search for them on CD's and print them out....then find some suitable embellishments. All in all it probably took around three hours :o) The first one...undecorated took me about an hour and a half.

Now that I am happy with the end result I could probably cut and assemble in about 30 minutes or so!

I love your box Marilyn. The colors are wonderful. Great job.

Thanks Cathy...it uses more of the FancyPants paper that I used on the stitched LO. I like it because it is double-sided and cardstock weight. Take care, Marilyn

Thanks Jacqui but I only followed the instructions LOLOL. I do like how it turned out though and it is now sitting proudly on the coffee table in the lounge...DH loved it :o)

Thanks Kenda :o) Now that I have made a couple...I have ideas for gifts and specific event albums. I will look forward to seeing how others tackle theirs. :o) The first one I did on a twist like the picture but I felt it was not really firm enough...so will decorate for GD. This one I just placed one layer on top of the other and like it much better...so straight it will be for me in future. Take care, Marilyn

Wow! That looks really cool. I have no idea what I would put in one, but it looks really cool. Of course, in a few weeks is DH & I's 10 yr anniversary......you're not going to enable me again, are you? :-)

Thanks for letting me know that Marilyn, I've been contiplateing the twisted one, but if it's not as sturdy then I'll skip it and go with the other way.

Kenda....It was the cardstock & paper I used that made it less sturdy..not the design as such Because there is a twist, the sides of the box seem to gape a little if they come into contact with the next layer.

Take care, Marilyn

Thank you for the info Marilyn. I may play around with both designs and see which I like better....
