Giganews server - blinks - goes out - comes back withfewer posts!

OK, this is weird, thank goodness I can now post through news.individual.net cause news.comcast.giganews.com keeps on saying that the rec.crafts.scrapbooks group is not found on their server! I do a new list it shows up, I subscribe, it repopulates with the 7000+ unread, but as soon as I move from reading newgroups to my email and back I get the message that rcs is not found on news.comcast.giganews.com and then the whole group with all the messages disappears again! Is anyone else using this server? Kenda are you having problems? Alt.crafts. scrapbooking stays put, it's only rec.crafts.scrapbooking that disappears!

M-C, I use Giganews too, and I've had no problems at all- so far. Are you on Comcast? Maybe this is a local problem. I'll play around with my Giganews account for a bit and see if anything happens.

Thanks Mel K and Kenda! The problem seems to have resolved itself, finally! Perhaps you had to be going to the newsgroup exactly as they were doing whatever. Glad it's not disappearing again. but it does mean that I had to catch up yet again!

That's why I go through news.dallas.sbcglobal.net! Of course, I can only do that because I have the SBC DSL. *runs and hides from flying boots*

That happens a lot with my server over here. It seems it only carries postings for three days. That means I miss out on a lot because I only get to the PC over weekends :(

I about panicked when I sat down to check mail/news because speakeasy.net no longer had us listed...I refreshed the list about 4 or 5 times...and we were there, but I also have no idea what was new since I last read...hopefully if I miss a message when searching by date that if someone needs me or wanted me for something either emails me or something...because it says I have

Wonder what's up with that!

So I can no longer tell what I need to read or answer. So please if there was a question in there for me, send it again as I have no choice but to hit "catch up" on the 7800+ messages now showing as unread!!

So it wasn't just the giganews server. That is really weird. Wonder what happened. That is exactly what happened to me! And although I said 7000+ I misread that it was 73000 unread!

Your best bet Theresa is to just mark everything as read or you'll never be sure!
