Ok, this time for real

I'm no longer a bead store virgin. I happened upon a cute little shop today, while DH was on a group bike ride in Redmond, WA, called Bead Man. They even have a website,

I really liked it there, and they were very gentle with me...guiding me through the store, showing where things were, etc. I did come away with a few things, things that captured my eye, which i'll try to get pix of tomorrow, when the camera batteries are fully charged again. Thanks for encouraging me to go, i think i'm gonna get addicted...lol.

< I went into a local bead store as was completely confused... I wanted everything they had! I ended up not buying anything, but I know where they are if I want to go and look again. lol They had anything you could possibly want..., except..., Paua shell. I wanted to ask them if they were interested in buying some and got scared, becuae I figured they would say yes and want thousands of pieces.... I ran from the store!

I've thought about lampwork...and though i'll collect them, i doubt i'll make them. It just doesn't appeal to me. I'm more of a stringing type of girl.

Famous Last Words.

You'll be beadweaving before you know it. Then some polymer clay or PMC will start calling. Or maybe you'll hear the siren call of the torch. (You might even kid yourself that it's a cost savings measure: why not make the bead instead of spending big $$ on that artisan lampwork?) It's inevitable - don't even try to fight it.

Or you could end up having a bead or two loose like myself, and spend endless evenings embroidering pearls on a Russian Headdress. :-)

ROFL, Kathy. I already have been playing with beadweaving...and making polyclay beads (which i decided isn't for me, but i still love to play with polyclay.) I can't see carrying that equipment with me overseas or across country whenever the Navy says it's time to move. Nah, i'll just leave the lampwork to our lovely lampwork wonders, and support their efforts. Bead embroidery, on the other hand, is right up my alley.

:) They have Bead Man in Issaquah, too. Small, but lovely store, and the prices aren't bad at all. :) Congrats on your de-virgin-ization!!
