Krylon Preserve It! spray, no more?

Michaels had Krylon's "Preserve It!" spray on clearance yesterday, and both stores near me were already out. Is Krylon not making it anymore? If so, is there an alternative product that will extend the life of inkjet printed photos?

Luna,

If you are using good paper and good ink, then you don't need to spray your printed photos with a preservative. For example, Canon gives a 100-year figure for their products.Go to the website of your printer manufacturer (wherever your ink comes from) and see what is said about longevity of the materials. Or it might even be right on the packaging (like on the paper box).

I use Canon postcard stock and Canon dye-ink cartridges in my CP-100 printer, so I don't worry about preservation. This isn't inkjet, but the principle is the same.

Is it this paper? This web page claims 72 years:

The details about inks are ... murky. But here is an article about inkjet printing in general that is pretty interesting:

I think the main concern is protection against light -- which photos in scrapbooks get by default. Gina in Virginia

Yeah, I saw some article about store brand inks fading after 3 months, but I have photos printed with Office Depot ink from last year that haven't faded yet that I can tell. If worst comes to worst, I can always reprint with better inks, or get them professionally reprinted, because I've got everything saved on my computer.

It's this one I'm talking about:

and Michaels doesn't have it in any sort of packaging any more. I'll have to find it somewhere else I guess.
